I found this while surfing. Can anyone confirm this for me?

You may want to know that America On Line (AOL), the giant internet service provider (ISP in computer lingo), is owned by a Christian couple, Steve Case and his wife, Jean. The Cases have recently been attacked by homosexual activists for making a substantial gift to Dr. D.J. Kennedy's Christian School, Westminster Academy (Jean is a graduate). The Cases are also suing a Florida company for using AOL to distribute pornography on its web site. If you are buying your internet access from AOL, feel good about it. (ANS/AFRN/FRC)

I can't confirm or debunk this, but if they can be judged by their actions, they have (at least in the past) had a habit of collecting continued monthly fees from people who have asked for their service to be stopped.  With me, they kept insisting that I hadn't provided complete information even though I had saved copies of what I had sent them and all the information had been included.  I have spoken to many people who have gone through the same thing.

Yup.  It's a publicly traded company.   Symbol is TWX, iirc.

The bare bones of what this says about Steve Case seems to be true, btw.  I found this Rolling Stone Article criticizing Kennedy and the "Dominionists" that included the following quote:

While the dominionists rely on grass-roots activists to fight their battles, they are backed by some of America's richest entrepreneurs. Amway founder Rich DeVos, a Kennedy ally who's the leading Republican contender for governor of Michigan, has tossed more than $5 million into the collection plate. Jean Case, wife of former AOL chief Steve Case -- whose fortune was made largely on sex-chat rooms -- has donated $8 million. And Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino's Pizza, is a major source of cash for Focus on the Family, a megaministry working with Kennedy to eliminate all public schools.

Having said that, AOL has had quite a reputation for borderline practices for years, I believe going back to when Case was in charge.

So is it just terribly out-of-date info?  Because AOL hasn't been privately owned in what, a decade or more?

I would guess that it's just taking the name and attaching it to the company without thinking things through completely.  Kind of like associating Ted Turner with CNN--the name of the founder always seems to be linked to the company in people's minds.

AOL is pretty much a shell of their former self in the business arena nowadays.

When I read articles on AOL on something like a volcano, it turns into politics and blasphemy. I just don't comment and don't read the posts. However, if it is Christian-owned, that would be a great thing, but it just doesn't seem that way.
