Sleep apnea is a condition in which the flow of oxygen to the lungs, and thus to the blood and body cells, stops for ten seconds or more.  If untreated, sleep apnea can result in any one or more of the following:

• Hypertension
• Cardiac arrhythmias
• Right-sided congestive heart failure
• Cerebral vascular accident (stroke)
• Cognitive dysfunction
• Death
