Has anyone read "Wild At Heart"

I'm interested to know if anyone, everyone, men and women, have read this tome entitled "Wild At Heart"?

Quite a book and so very very true.  I've lived it my whole life but I find so many disillusioned men that are so feminine now by forced march there is little 'man' like features left.

This book is wonderful for getting men to return to their roots, and chase the maidens of their resolve.

I have read this book along with "Waking the Dead" and "Sacred Romance" written by John Eldredge.  "Wild At Heart" asks the question "What is Man?" The term man has so many meanings. How does God define man? What is it that God expects of man? Relationship defined with a covenant.

Much of what John writes deals with the battleground of a man's heart. Who truly rules the heart? It is unfortunate that the hearts of many men in our society have been ruled by evil. Even men in churches have hearts that have been weakened by the world. There is so much lust and abuse.

I have watched TV for years. These past few years, man is portrayed as weak and manipulative. There are a few shows where men are seen as strong and full of courage. Several shows portray men as "sex obsessed animals." The jokes about men are common and have been heard a "million times."

I am grateful there are those who seek to rise up above all of the degrading displays that have become so frequent to our culture. The true man recognizes his need for God. He will have his weaknesses, but humbly resign them to God. I am still in the process of this humble resignation to God's will.

I wish more men could read such books and Scripture. Our hearts must be strong, but not "hard-hearted." It comes down to who truly rules the heart.

We read the book and watched to video series with our men's group... It was very good for the group.. It was several years back, but I was just thinking the other day about doing it again... Another good book is "Why Men Hate Church" ::smile::

So far, great responses  gentlemen, and thank you.

I hope other men chime here and women as well.

Good data.

Still holds, at least for me:

::noworries::Yes! I read this book in 2001 and it was an eye opener to me.  It helped me understand the men in my life like my dad and brothers and what they go through.  But I think this book is also for women, not just to help us understand how God created man but also to affirm us of how the Lord created us....how women are designed to be suitable partners to men.

Robert,

Excellent book. I was introduced to it by a christian colleague while talking of the removal of the 'manly man' by society. I see so many boys now being raised up to be dainty & delicate. Its an excellent book for men, but I would argue even more so for women...my wife loved it and she now understands my passion for sports and to work with my hands.

I have the book...somewhere. But haven't read it. I want to. I hear it's a powerful book that counters today's world of male bashing.

Same here, Lee.  I've got it in my "to read" stack in the office.  Looks like a good book.

I was listening to the radio today, and the announcer said she loved this book and it helped her to understand her husband better.  I have heard of it before, but now I think I may actually read it.   ::smile::

Do read it, it does an excellent job of shedding light on men "born to be wild" and also gives a non-perverted explanation of sex drive, the desire to pursue/attain a spouse, etc.

There's a female version too...will probably read it after my wife...although she says much of it won't apply to her as she is a tomboy.

just read it!!  Great book!!

made me realize that God loves me as a 'comedian' and doesn't ask me to conform to 'idealistic powerful speakers'... who i have been imitating for years...

what i mean by that is 'i do waay to much imitating of other's faiths without realizing that God truly loves me to be who i am inside..basically a
cut-up'... although i have to watch this at times before cracking jokes during group discussions at church.

I think I'll finally pick this up.
