Is there anyway to add to the pre-selected avatars so a person can have a big avatar?

I've chosen "my own picture" and I just want to see if it works.  It's really the wrong one; I hit the wrong picture by mistake; and now I wanted to put another one in and the message says it's too large....when this one that hopefully turns up was much large to begin with, so I'm totally confused.  Let's see if the wrong one shows up, at least.

yes, it showed up, but it's so little you can hardly make it out.  I've seen larger pictures than this one; don't know why this one has to be so small.
