Hi everyone,

For the past 6-7 years I've been battling with depression and slef harming. The good news is that I haven't harmed or anything for 2 months, but I'm finding it hard. I've done a freedom in chirst course, also an alpha course and tried safe self harminf. I have told my boyfriend but I'm still feeling a little low. I've been in counselling, on antidepressants and have been diagnosed with severe clinical depression. I'm finding it hard to bring it before God and praying. I was wondering if there was anyone who could give me some advice or encouragement. I know that I can beat this.

God Bless

Apple, I'm seeing two contradictions in your post here.  You have said you are into self harming, but then I read, "AppleofGod'seye" , and then I read,"I am fearfully and wonderfully made."  Do you really believe these things?  Do you really believe you have been made in God's image,  that He knew you while you were still in the womb, that God is love?  Talk to Jesus about these feeling you have been having, these urges to do harm to yourself.  Believe me, He won't be shocked by it, He will have mercy and forgive you.  He wants you to take care of the body He has given you.  Yes, with God's help, you CAN beat this, and what a glorious day it will be.  I will pray for you, too.

love,

Sopranette

Your deliverance lies in actually taking this to God.  You need to speak to him, even if it's just to tell him you don't know what to say.  You need to spend time daily in worship, and prayer and the word.  You need to fill up your clean house with the things of the LORD.  Sing worship songs or pray the word.  You can just simply speak the word of God in prayer to the LORD, you do not have to know any fancy words or long praying style.  Find scriptures on deliverance and freedom, healing and being free from sin... write them down, read them out loud to yourself often, pray them to the LORD, speaking "Father, I believe your word says... (fill in the verse here) ... concerning me and you will cause this to be"...

God will cause the spoken word to be in your life.  He will cause you to have a renewed heart and a clean mind.  He will cause you to think upon whatsoever is holy, righteous, true, honorable, good to be in your life.  You are the apple of His eye, and He longs to hear you speak to Him, and to fulfill His word in your life.

One thing we all need to take to heart is that somewhere in his epistles Paul declared that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Ghost.  That being given, we are obligated to treat our bodies, minds and spirits with great care and caution.

Take Omega 3 fish oil, exercize and eat dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa).

That'll whip depression!

I've lived with depression and rage issues for a long time myself.  It wasn't until I was in college that my family found out that it stemmed from a chemical imbalance. I take medication for it now, and have since we found out about it, but even with it I still have my bad days. There are times I feel like I'm close to a nervous breakdown, which isn't a fun feeling; but for the most part I've come through due to the grace of God and the meds that balance me out.

Keep praying about it and don't discount it being something biological. If God leads you to getting yourself checked out then do it. You never know when the solution will come.

Such trials as you have are simply additional proofs ,or examples, of GOD`S care.  The closer we come to GOD the more frequently we are attacked by satan.  Keep praying and thanking JESUS for his love and protection.

Check out 1 Corinthians 10:13.

An inner feeling of self-hatred is a common side-effect of abuse, especially sexual abuse.  You were likely programmed to believe in your own unworthiness at a very young age, and it is a problem that is very difficult to fix with the modern psychological/psychiatric methods.  I recommend finding a hypnotherapist that you can trust to help reprogram your unconscious mind, because otherwise this will drag on for many years, and perhaps for your lifetime.  I can tell you that you were lied to by the person(s) who hurt you until we are both blue in the face, but until this is actually accepted in the the deep regions of your unconscious  -- where it was programmed at an early age -- it is going to amount to nothing.
