What does it mean when someone tells you "you're nailed to the cross"?

comfy

When someone says "you are nailed to the cross", I think someone can mean what Paul is talking about in Romans 6:1-14. What I understand this is saying is that Jesus died on the cross in order for us to become forgiven and then to begin living in God's love, in submission to God in His peace while loving any and all people.

This is what Jesus was doing on the cross. He was obeying God and loving any and all people.

So, when we turn from our past sins, with the intention of obeying God, we have died to our past and our *selfish* selves have died: spiritually, we have been nailed to the cross, so "that our old man was crucified with Him", meaning our selfish self is nailed to the cross so it stops and dies, in order that we can go on as a new person with Jesus, being new in His peace and love and "rest for your souls" (in Matthew 11:29). What can cause trouble in us dies, and love lives, instead ::smile::

You can change that first post. Press "modify", then edit out the frown thing. And if you manage to learn how to do that, then you may also wish to delete the second post, by pressing "delete" in that post.

In common vernacular "Being nailed to the cross" is that you're caught, in trouble, and you're going to pay for it to the nth degree.

Colossians 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Colossians 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

A result of Jesus being nailed to the cross is as follows:

1 Corinthians 15:3   Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

1 John 2:2  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Revelation 13:8  Jesus is "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world."
