Millions of christian are addicted to porno, and this has lead to an increase in fornication and adultery. What can christian do to overcome this . ::cryingtears:: its so sad

Its also led to many marriage break ups. There are many things that can be done, such as acountability groups, and accountability partners, blockers that can be installed on computers, even getting rid of the computer, but the one doing it has got to want to stop, and stop blaming their spouses, or everyone else except themselves.

Pornography has always existed in one form or another, from nude statues and paintings shamelessly produced by artists, to the public advertisement of naked prostitutes in European store windows. Pornography is not the actual problem, but the lack of morality and commitment to Christian values that is so rampant in today's world.

When I became a Christian in 1970, the doctrine of entire sanctification was preached by many mainstream churches. It was actually a teaching of John and Charles Wesley, founders of the Methodist church. Many other Holiness groups also taught that the Holy Spirit can completely eradicate the sinful nature. Most Methodists and other Holiness Christians actively sought for this second work of grace after being born again. Most Holiness ministers preached that it is possible for the sincere believer to be made perfect in love - that a committed Christian's deep love for God should prevent his motives from being self-centered, so that he would focus on doing God's will instead of his own.

The doctrine of entire sanctification is seldom preached in pulpits today. It has largely been abandoned by evangelical churches and it was not taught in the ecumenical movement from the start. The lack of commitment to Christ and His principals is ripping away at the moral fabric of the nation and healthy families are perishing with the advent of a humanistic, self-gratifying society. Not long ago, America was considered a Christian nation, along with most nations in the British empire, but that is no longer true. She is perishing under the influence of pagan religions and customs.

The internet can be a tool for promoting good or evil. That's why we Christians must stand up and speak out bravely against such filthiness of the flesh. On the night before his execution, Ted Bundy told Dr. James Dobson that he had been raised in a Christian home yet did not follow on to serve Christ. He secretly started viewing pornography as a child and his addiction to it eventually led him to become a necrophiliac and serial killer. When people have no fear of prosecution, such destructive behavior will continue to corrupt and destroy the innocent. Christians must petition Congress to pass stricter laws protecting innocent children from the ill effects of pornography and pray, pray, pray as we have never done before. Jesus is coming soon to deliver His chosen ones, but when He comes "shall He find faith on the earth?" (Luke 18:8)

I agree cindybear, but while it has been around in some form for a long time, the internet has made it far far more accessible. At one time it was more or less the occasional mag, and now you can view more or less whatever you want to on the internet, including the most perverted things. Its all part of Satans strategy of course, to render Christian men ineffective, and to destroy lives and marriages.

Yes, the internet brings pornography right to people's laps and it is therefore a particularly overwhelming evil. Men are not the only ones with pornography problems, though. Many wives read steamy romance novels and watch graphic sexuality in movies and on television. Pornography leads to an unreasonable expectation of the spouse to look and perform like the heroes they read about and watch. We all need to remember that God created marriage and sex between one man and one woman specifically for the purpose of procreation, so that righteous seed may continue in the earth.  Sexual gratification is not nearly as important as our society makes it out to be. Sex has much more to do with brain chemicals and hormones than devoted love, which God intended to last even after a couple's sex life has cooled considerably. As a matter of fact, the word "eros" (sexual love) is not found in any reference to married love in the Greek New Testament. The word "agape" is used instead, which refers to the pure unselfish love of God.

God bless you real good cindybear. You spoke with the spirit of God. Jesus said "seek it first the kingdom of God and.... We need to seek God first in all things. There are people that are addicted to pornography and are crying to come out, yet continue to get traped in it again and again. Such people need to seek God to the point of experiencing a holy fire in their heart. That i believe is SANCTIFICATION. that person will begin to have hatred for every form of sin, and loss of evil apetite. It is only God that can help the addicts but they must seek God to that place where it becomes easy to overcome.

A word for all Addict that are crying to God for help...... Dont allow the devil to box you in bondage because of your sin or weakness of pornography. As long as you truely want to be free, God will help. but continue in prayers. pray pray pray. keep speaking to yourself that you are an overcomer, avoid the temptation to watch porno, whenever the urge arises walk out of your room, go do some exercise, and start worshiping God.

Use the weapon of your mouth. he that has control over the tongue, the same can control the whole body

Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you.  ::amen!::

Wealth, your name fits you very well - it is obvious that you are RICH in the grace and wisdom of the Lord. God bless you for the uplifting words! You are the first person I've met in 10 years on the internet who understands about entire sanctification. I pray that more people can learn about this second definite work of grace that eradicates the sin nature. The sinful nature of the flesh causes people to desire to transgress, but Jesus' died on the cross to save and sanctify us. God can remove monkeys from our backs, but we still have to fight the urge to yield to temptation. By submitting ourselves to the Holy Spirit's control, we will have the needed power to resist Satan. Then we can watch him run away on chicken feet, PTL! We all need to pray as Jesus did to His Father, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver is from evil..." God will give us the strength to overcome temptation if we will give Him the chance.

Cindybear,

We are here!  After 33 years of being a born again Christian I experienced the second work of grace.  I am still absolutely amazed at the tremendous power we have at our disposal through the indwelling Holy Spirit.  Power over sin, power in prayer, awestruck in worship, and a deep abiding love for God's chosen people that just won't leave me alone.

Several weeks after this life changing experience I excitedly mentioned it to my Monday morning men's prayer group and one of my brothers flatly denied that there is such a thing and immediately changed the subject.  Several of the other guys have treated me as if I have a communicable disease ever since.  The church of Christ it seems doesn't want to acknowledge that God can and does give man power over sin through His Holy Spirit, but I believe God grants this second touch in His time and in His wisdom.  In Luke 11:13 Jesus told us to ask God for the Holy Spirit, so why does there seem to be such resistance?  I'm not sure.  Perhaps some are afraid that if they receive entire sanctification they will start babbling in an unknown language and people will think they are strange.  What I have is a lot better than speaking in tongues.
