Answer this Riddle:

"IF Time Travel was invented in the next 24 hours, how long has time travel been around?"

FYI: It's the 21st Century. We better start believing in it, for our own survival

Grinandbearit

It's always been around. Ask God!

I've seen one [Time Machine/ Watcher Craft]  ::cryingtears::

PS- My feeling is that it was not of god (maybe god's invention)....definately -NOT!- his intentions.

Time travel for human beings won't ever be possible. How I know? Have you ever seen anyone around from the future? (Real enthusiasts will answer something like: "No, but that's because they are invisible!")

......What if someone from the future would kill someone from the past? All of a sudden it might appear that your parents have never    existed. Then how did you get here?

......What if his victim was one of his ancestors?

......Maybe someone could go tell Eva not to eat from that tree; life would have been different!

None of those are "proof."

If somebody changed the past, none of us would know.  You would not be thinking that the north won the civil war one minute and then be surprised to find that the south won.  Any changes made would seem as if they were always in place to us.

The grandfather paradox makes for good discussion, but is just that good for discussion, not proof.

When you get a chance, look up John Titor.  I'm not claiming his story is fact, and you will most likely dismiss it out of hand, but it does lend quite a bit to the discussion.

OK, one more to think about then!

What if the inventor of a time-machine would change history, and by doing so, would rule out his own existence? He would be stuck in the past, while he doesn't even exist. Then how in the first place did he end up there?

Are you a christian? If you are, then I believe you should know that it could never happen! All people have a soul, so if history would change and all of a sudden certain people wouldn't exist anymore, what would happen to their souls? We may not know they ever existed, but God does! You can't fool Him!

I'm sorry, but one's belief or lack of belief in time travel has not bearing on his or her salvation.

Did you look up John Titor?

I NEVER discuss physics at Christian websites, but here is a very good, very simple discussion - very understandable for those with no formal training in physics.

Yep, I looked up John Titor and the story about him doesn't proof anything. Next year we'll know whether he was right or just a dreamer with a great fantasy! I bet the latter!

Time travel and changing history in particular has much to do with salvation and stuff! Please read my post again. You clearly didn't understand my point!

I'm waiting for a thread on leprechauns. I bet that'll be even more interesting.

(c'mon guys, get a grip.)

PS. And just to add something spiritually valid to this subject so I don't get told off for flaming (something so ridiculous) - if people could travel back and forth in time, God would lose control. Because people would now be able to change randomly other peoples opportunity to even exist (once they already had existed), something already brought up.

God doesn't give human beings that kind of power.

I agree, but as I am sure you know (though our new friend does not, thought he will now), claiming that a person's salvation is tied to agreement on anything other than Jesus Christ is a big pet peeve of mine.

Calling me stupid for disagreeing with you is another.

Since twisting peoples words seems rampant lately, let me SAY AGAIN that I do not claim Titor's story is fact, but his story brought to light certain theories (which peer reviewed scientific journal articles have support) that answered little lambs criticisms.  However, he would rather insult my intelligence than acknowledge scientists have come up with sound theories that destroyed his "proofs."

Actually most scientist do not believe that time travel to the past is possible but time travel to the future is. However the technology is way beyond our grasp at this time. You would have to be moving at near the speed of light

manikertamang

I don't think a time travel will be invented for human being.

USMC0811

There has always been time travel.  In 15 seconds you will have traveled 15 seconds into the future.

marc

Time travel into the future exists. It's so small we don't notice, but relativity does have measured effects, and it's been proven that when flying at high speeds, time moves at a slightly different rate. It's late now, but if you google it....

Ladonia

Has anyone ever almost had an vehicle accident? And did you notice how "time" seemed to slow down? I almost had one with my 18 wheeler and the whole incident couldn't have lasted more than 5 seconds, yet it seemed I had plenty of time to take a specific course of action. "I can't stop, I'm gonna hit the guy in front of me and push him through the red light into cross traffic. Quick, I thought, I'll sideswipe the 3 cars on my left so I don't hit the guy in front of me straight on in the rear. Lay on the air horn in a death rattle, start to move to my left, guy in front hears horn, sees me in his rearview, quickly pulls to the right. An opening now, I do not hit the 3 cars on my left, do not hit the car in front, go sailing thru red light. Cars that got the green (cross traffic) hear the death rattle of the air horn, no one moves. Whew! No accident!" Five seconds from start to finish. Time travel? You decide.

P.F.

Time travel exists but it is limited to a few hours.  I traveled in time this morning.

LightHammer

The fundamental flaw with time travel, at least in traveling into the past, is the definition of what time is and how it flows.

I believe reality and thus flows only forward, with the past not existing concretely and thus there is infact nothing to return to.

All illustration of time as I believe it would be well a pulse. A proceeding force. Time exists only in the present but the present is always moving forward.

Those who believe in time travel indirectly believe that time is more like a stream of water; a definitive line of the same subsatnce that simply moves forward or progresses.

The idea of time travel seems to suggest that if you can generate enough speed and thus move faster than the progression of time you can travel forward or backward against the flow.

So you see it all depends on how you define time. I myself believe that time is simply the idea that embodies the progression of one moment of phenomena to the moment of another. There is no concrete dimension or reality that is called time to can be traveled.

Bitter Sweet

When we rule with God we will understand how past and current can coexist, future and past can coexist. There are no bounds in time when we are with God.

I also believe that we will have future technology that will allow us to time travel, but not physically. We will be able to view the earth and zoom into everything with this technology. We cannot change the past or the future, what's done is done.

FireSword

God said I will remember your sins no more.

It would be good though if we could go back to the past and see events, like the pyramids being built, or the way of Christ. Also a good learning tool for future generations of Christs kingdom.

"look kids this is what happens when you don't do good."

I traveled in time last week.  It was limited to a few hours.

I left at 10 AM, I was seating for 2.5 hours, but when I got to my destination, it was not 12:30 PM.  It was 1:30 PM.

There once was a lady from Bright
Who could travel much faster than light
She left there one day

And returned the previous night.

So you are saying that if someone went back in time and killed Billy Graham as a child, or David Wilkerson as a child, that the people that they led to the Lord woudl be saved anyway?

What if we went back and killed off Martin Luther, John Calvin, Ulrich Zwingli, and John Knox? Would the Reformation have occured anyway?

Carey

John Titor was not of the future, I can assure you as I am. ::pondering:: rofl

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
for those that have read "The Great Divorce" CS. Lewis borrowed the physical attributes of the plain between heaven and hell from a science fiction writer who remained anonymous.

This writer's concept was that when one visited the past, it was an impossibly "hard" world.  One could not affect things, he/she could only observe.  This theory meant very real perils to the interloper, for example; rain would fall as solid drops -that would not yield to his flesh but pierce him, blades of grass would pass through his soles and his feet, something as insubstantial and light as a dandelion seed on the breeze would knock him down like a semi... etc.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been suggested that although we cannot go back in time and be an active part of it, we can view it as a movie.  This can already take place if one steps back from the earth an adequate distance, for an image of everything that has ever taken place currently rushes through the universe, one only needs vista and the equipment to capture it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We cannot travel back in time, but God is omnipotent, if he wishes to alter our existence he can.  Further if he wishes to endow man with that ability he can without reservation as all are controlled by him if he chooses, all possibilities are seen by him.

It is interesting when one considers this omnipotence and transcendence over time, the options open to Him.  Many condemn God for what they see as a lack of compassion to his creation, but we cannot hope to understand how he may address suffering.  Perhaps in the end, our arrival in Heaven will result in us not only forgetting our suffering, but actually never experiencing it in the first place. ::shrug::

I find this a very interesting topic, it humbles us in the revelation of what must be the truly wondrous mind of our Creator.

Carey.

I got on a plane on the east coast.  It was 2 pm.  The flight was four hours long.  It should have been 6 pm, but it was 4 pm when I landed.
