This was a call to seek God's blessing through the Roman Catholic Church. It reflects an effort to connect America's future with the spiritual leadership and religious traditions of Rome. The language used in the consecration ceremony also presents the Catholic Church as possessing a universal spiritual mission among the nations. Such language is consistent with the prophetic picture in Revelation:

"And power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations." Revelation 13:7.

"And all the world wondered after the beast." Revelation 13:3.

"And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues." Revelation 17:15.


The repeated invocation of Mary, the saints, and their intercession highlights a fundamental difference between Catholic tradition and the teachings of Scripture. The Bible teaches that Christ alone is our only mediator between God and man (1 Timothy 2:5), a truth that was strongly emphasized during the Protestant Reformation. Many of the Reformers viewed prayers to Mary and the saints as a grave biblical error. Today, however, ecumenical cooperation has led many Protestants to remain silent on these and many other teachings that were once challenged during the Reformation.

"The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience." (Great Controversy, p. 588).

Protestant America is increasingly drawing closer to Rome as conditions in our nation continue to move towards the formation of the image of the beast. The idea that America has officially been consecrated by the Catholic Church is pushing us closer to the crisis that will revolve around worship and submission to man-made traditions. The central question during the final crisis will ultimately be whether we will follow the commandments of God or religious traditions elevated by human authority.

We are living in a historic moment as our nation's identity becomes increasingly intertwined with religion and the growing role of faith in our nation. As America moves ever closer to the prophetic events described in Revelation 13, God's people are called to proclaim the message of Revelation 14 to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, exalting Christ as the only Mediator between God and man and upholding God's commandments as the only standard of truth and righteousness.

Soon no doubt, God will allow the evil one to answer those who pray to the dead, as though he was the one they were praying to. This is only right for them, as he basically is the god of the dead, so why shouldn't he answer those who pray to them.

Mat 22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. 30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. 31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, 32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? Today, Protestant America has honored the very symbol that the Founding Fathers rejected. And they did it from the very birthplace of this nation. The medal ceremony was held at the very site where the American experiment in limited government and separation of church and state was born. This nation deliberately rejected European models in which a religious authority, whether pope or king, could claim both spiritual and political power.

And to honor the head of the Roman Catholic Church with a "Liberty Medal" on the eve of the 250th anniversary is a profound reversal to what America is supposed to represent. Our nation is literally bestowing honor on the very system many had fled many centuries ago. The Pope hasn't changed. He is still the embodiment of church-state union. In the Founding Fathers' minds, the Papacy stood for tyranny. The Pope's claim to universal authority and temporal power remained deeply problematic to our nation at its founding. In fact, the U.S. Constitution was written to keep any such authority — foreign or domestic — from gaining a foothold in our nation.

A Changed America, Not a Changed Papacy

The contradiction arises because America has changed dramatically since 1776. In today's pluralistic, post-Vatican II era, the United States can honor the Pope for his so-called advocacy of religious freedom without seeing it as a threat to the republic. The Liberty Medal award cites the Pope's advocacy for religious liberty, a position the modern Catholic Church has strongly affirmed since the Second Vatican Council's Dignitatis Humanae in 1965.

The problem, however, is that the American and Roman Catholic understandings of religious liberty are not the same. The United States Declaration of Independence describes our rights as "inalienable," meaning that they cannot be legitimately taken away, surrendered, or transferred because they come from the Creator rather than from the state. By contrast, Roman Catholic teaching affirms religious freedom, but not as an unrestricted or absolute civil right; Vatican II's Dignitatis Humanae says religious liberty exists "within due limits," and the Catechism places rights within the framework of "the common good" and public order. Therefore, the American model emphasizes that rights are absolute and that government exists to protect them, while the Catholic model allows civil authority, in certain cases, to limit individual freedoms in the name of a higher common or moral good.

The current situation reveals one of history's greatest ironies: America, a nation founded to protect itself from religious establishments, which lead to tyranny, now pays tribute to the leader of one of history's oldest church-state institutions. In the early days of America, there was a healthy, widespread suspicion against the Pope due to his temporal power. This gesture of bestowing a high honor upon the same Pope—the Medal of Freedom—truly represents one of the greatest ironies of our modern time.

Our Founding Fathers saw the Catholic Church's hierarchical structure, its claim of papal supremacy over secular rulers, and its history of using state power to suppress "heresy" as completely incompatible with a constitutional republic, religious liberties, and individual conscience. That is why the First Amendment was designed to prevent any church from gaining the kind of privileged and coercive relationship with the state that had existed in Catholic Europe.

Unfortunately, that has all changed today:

"Protestants have tampered with and patronized popery; they have made compromises and concessions which papists themselves are surprised to see and fail to understand. Men are closing their eyes to the real character of Romanism and the dangers to be apprehended from her supremacy. The people need to be aroused to resist the advances of this most dangerous foe to civil and religious liberty" (Great Controversy, p. 566).

Let it be remembered, that this is the same institution which has recently supported and or called for greater internet and social media censorship, and the subjugation of all sovereign nations and individuals to the unelected officials of the UN and other international organizations regarding certain issues it has in common with them. Not to mention repeatedly attacking Capitalism, while seemingly praising Socialism, and even Chinese Communism as most closely demonstrating ideal Vatican implemented government. Let's not forget either, Catholic social teaching regarding the universal destination of goods, in relation to the issue of private property rights. Just to mention a few problems addressed on this topic and others within this SDA forum over the years. Hardly issues that would warrant the giving of Liberty Medal to the Pope of Rome.

Pope Leo to Jesuits: 'Go to the frontiers with courage and discernment'

Pope Leo XIV addresses the Major Superiors of the Society of Jesus, urging them to remain faithful to their missionary tradition of discernment and service at the frontiers of culture, faith, and human need.

Speaking in the Vatican to participants of the Meeting of the Major Superiors of the Society of Jesus (MMS), the Pope thanked Jesuit Superior General Fr. Arturo Sosa and encouraged the Society "to discern new ways of living out your mission in today's world."

The MMS — the first since 2005 — brings together around 100 Jesuits from across the globe, including Provincials, Regional Superiors, and Conference Presidents. The ten-day meeting, which began on 17 October, includes moments of reflection, communal discernment, and a Jubilee pilgrimage through the Holy Door.

Called to the frontiers
In his wide-ranging address, Pope Leo XIV described the present as "a change of epoch," marked by rapid transformations in culture, technology, and politics. "Artificial intelligence and other innovations are reshaping our understanding of work and relationships, and even raising questions about human identity," he said, noting also the threats of ecological degradation, inequality, and polarisation.

"Yet into this world, Christ still sends his disciples," he affirmed, recalling how Saint Ignatius of Loyola and his companions "did not fear uncertainty or difficulty; they went to the margins, where faith and reason intersected with new cultures and great challenges."

Quoting Saint Paul VI's 1974 address to the Jesuits, the Pope reiterated: "Wherever in the Church, even in the most difficult and extreme fields... There have been, and there are, Jesuits."

"Today," he continued, "I repeat: the Church needs you at the frontiers, whether they be geographical, cultural, intellectual or spiritual. These are places of risk, where familiar maps are no longer sufficient."

The Pope invited Jesuits to discern boldly and to practice the Ignatian principle of "holy indifference," which he described as "the readiness to let go of cherished structures or roles when the Spirit leads the apostolic body elsewhere for a greater good."

Synodality and reconciliation
Among the "major frontiers" facing the Church today, Pope Leo XIV highlighted the path of synodality, calling it a journey that "requires listening more deeply to the Holy Spirit and to one another." He thanked the Society for its contributions to the synodal process and for helping ecclesial communities "walk together in hope."

Turning to the theme of reconciliation, he said the world continues to suffer from "conflict, inequality and abuse," and that many wounds "remain unhealed across generations and peoples."

"We must oppose the globalisation of powerlessness with a culture of reconciliation - meeting one another in truth, forgiveness and healing," the Pope said, urging Jesuits to become "experts in reconciliation, confident that good is stronger than evil."

Discernment amid technological change
Pope Leo XIV devoted part of his address to the ethical challenges posed by new technologies, particularly artificial intelligence. He called this an "important frontier," observing that while it holds great potential, it also carries risks "of isolation, loss of work and new forms of manipulation."

"The Church must help guide these developments ethically, defending human dignity and promoting the common good," he said. "We need to discern how to use digital platforms to evangelise, to form communities and to challenge the false gods of consumerism, power and self-sufficiency."

Universal Apostolic Preferences
Referring to the four Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus,  confirmed in 2019 by his predecessor, Pope Francis, Pope Leo XIV described them as "frontiers calling for discernment and courage."

Recalling the first Preference, he encouraged Jesuits to lead people to God "through the Spiritual Exercises and discernment," noting that "many today search for meaning, often without realising it." Citing Saint Augustine, he said: "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in you."

He called on Jesuits to "meet people in that restlessness... in retreat houses, universities, social media, parishes and informal spaces where seekers gather," and to remain "contemplatives in action, rooted in daily intimacy with Christ."

Addressing the second Preference - walking with the poor and excluded - the Pope denounced "an economic system driven by profit above the dignity of the person," citing his recent exhortation Dilexi Te in which he warned against "the dictatorship of an economy that kills."

"This global imbalance pushes countless people to migrate in search of survival," he said. "True discipleship requires both denunciation of injustice and the proposal of new models rooted in solidarity and the common good."

He encouraged Jesuit institutions — including universities, social centres, publications, and the Jesuit Refugee Service — to "promote systemic change" and to resist "compassion fatigue or fatalism," trusting instead "in the transformative power of God's love."

Walking with the young and caring for creation
Turning to the third Preference - accompanying young people — Pope Leo XIV said that youth "share a thirst for authenticity and transformation" and that the Church must "find and speak their language."

"It is important to form spaces where they can encounter Christ, discover their vocation, and work for the Kingdom," he said, noting that the upcoming World Youth Day in Korea will be "a key moment for this mission."

Regarding care for our common home - the fourth Preference - the Pope described ecological conversion as "deeply spiritual," calling for "renewing our relationship with God, with one another and with creation."

"Let your communities be examples of ecological sustainability, simplicity and gratitude for God's gifts," he said, echoing Pope Francis' Laudato Si' and its call for integral ecology.

"Remain with Christ"
Concluding his address, Pope Leo XIV invited the Jesuits to remain close to Jesus through prayer, the Sacraments, and community life.

"From this rootedness," he said, "you will have the courage to walk anywhere: to speak truth, to reconcile, to heal, to labour for justice, to set captives free. No frontier will be beyond your reach if you walk with Christ."

Yes, it is their job to insure that their Pope is the universal spiritual leader of the world, in their global agenda for universal power, within the world our Lord has called all of His own to separate from. The Vatican has just affirmed and proclaimed the medieval doctrine of papal supremacy. This is the belief that the Pope possesses not only religious authority but also the authority to govern and rule over secular or temporal affairs. Rome wants to regain control over the world and use its position of power to shape society into an image of its own likeness.

Every true student of Bible prophecy and every defender of religious liberty should know what papal supremacy means. This is a system of power that requires the praise and submission of kings, emperors, religious leaders, and all people on the earth. This will lead to the temporary reign of the Antichrist, where dissent, freedom of expression, autonomy, and religious freedom will end under the new dictatorship.

The books of Daniel and Revelation identify the Papacy as the prophetic "beast" power (Revelation 13) that once held dominance during the Dark Ages and is foretold to regain its global influence in the last days. Prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. It shows that the Papacy is not just tolerated or respected—it is admired, even by nations like the United States, which was founded on principles of religious liberty and separation of church and state.

Go to people. Right to the Vatican online, and read Papal Encyclicals, Doctrinal Notes, and so on. Why would the representative of Him who declared that His kingdom was not of this world, spend so very much time trying to spell out how the politics of this world should be conducted, while so fully supporting authoritative, liberty destroying governments of this world? Teachings which the Vatican has called upon all of its adherents to help make political realities within whatever nations they find themselves. It is as I have stated many times over, the Church of Rome represents a foreign power of subversion from within every nation she occupies. The harder she works to fill a nation with her adherents, the more determined she obviously is, to take that nation over from within. Which is why immigration is and has been so important to the Vatican.

Revelation warns that the world will come together to worship the beast and receive his mark. The entire world will embrace the counterfeit gospel along with the counterfeit Sabbath. As the world sinks deeper into disobedience, confusion, and spiritual error, God calls His faithful people to stand boldly and raise the banner of truth high before the world. Our mission is urgent—to proclaim the everlasting gospel and the warnings found in Revelation 14:6-12.

Who have accepted the Roman Catholic vision of a common good unto the unification of humanity under global authority guided by the Church of Rome's morality? But to support globalists right to subvert the laws and rights of sovereign nations from within, unto submission to globalist authority over an above all other. Taking from governments and peoples who systems actually work, and giving them to those whose systems do not, without changing the problems that cause their great need from others. Here the pope is the pot calling the kettle black. As the left does so often accuse everyone else of exactly what they are doing.

Oh yes, the free market, such a terrible atrocity. When papally approved state sponsored and enforced redistribution of wealth could be facilitated under the all wise guidance of papal morality and the common good. International organizations under the direct guidance of papal authority taking every bodies wealth and doing what they please with it, would be better than correcting the abuses or undesirable consequences of a free market. And so of course, the papacy is not in favor of financial freedom either, save it by submitted to international organizations under the direct supervision of supposed papal "morality".

As all politicians and especially unelected foreign international ones always do. What does the pope want but to dissolve the power and authority of national constitutions developed by the peoples of nations themselves for their own protection and benefit, unto subjection to unelected and therefore non representative foreign
politicians, themselves submitting to the "moral authority of the pope Himself? Gee, I don't know, this kind of sounds like pope speak we have heard before during much darker days than now.

"Pope Francis broke new ground," Faggioli said. "I don't see Pope Leo retreating from that ground."

Petito added that while Pope Francis often led through symbolic gestures, Pope Leo has shown greater interest in strengthening institutions. 

As Pope Leo continues to appoint more leaders from the Global South to senior Vatican positions, he is also strengthening ties to the regions where the Church's presence is growing fastest.

In many of those countries, the Catholic Church serves not only as a religious institution but also as a trusted civic actor, with bishops frequently mediating conflicts, monitoring elections and advocating for democratic processes. That combination of demographic growth and public credibility could give the Holy See an increasingly important role in international affairs at a time when many state institutions are under strain.

Troy said the pope's emphasis on the Global South reflects more than a changing demographic makeup of the Church. Many of tomorrow's geopolitical challenges, he said, will emerge in regions where state institutions are weak but where the Catholic Church remains one of the few enduring social institutions, providing education, humanitarian assistance and moral authority.

"As political institutions become weaker," Troy said, "the Church will have an increasingly important role to play."

That is an increasingly political and temporal role to play. This is a repeat of history during the Roman Empire. As the Church of Rome rose to increased political and temporal power during the fall of that empire. As many have suggested and or observed as well, that the Church of Rome itself played no small part in that fall. The result was the establishment of the Holy Roman Empire, unto the dark ages, unto untold persecutions and suffering for religious reasons and wars spawned by religious differences.

Nor has the Roman Church been any less involved in the political instability we see all around us today, which events as she just admitted above, tend to bolster her political power and influence upon and within this world. As I have been recording on these very boards and this specific topic for years now. These Thomistic notions - that private property is merely a construct of human reason and government, and that need gives the needy title to the goods of others - are the reason the Roman Catholic bishops in Brazil in 1998 pronounced that looting is neither sin nor a crime. Apart from all of the above, there is the fact that God Himself divided humanity for its own good at the tower of Babel. This He did to prevent universal rebellion against Himself unto universal global destruction once again by His judgment, before the time He has allotted for such. The unification of humanity can and will only lead to universal rebellion against God enforced by humanity, as all the politics of this world are built upon compromise, and God's government and people cannot and do not compromise His authority. The only way to unify true believers and non believers, will be thought compromise. To the effect that, as soon as the Papacy might reach it's intended goal of unification, it will also universal rebellion against the government of God and the final destruction of this world by His final judgment upon it.

Ellen G. White's warning in The Great Controversy is particularly relevant because she describes the formation of a religious-political alliance that would eventually seek to use the power of the state to enforce religious observances. Roman Catholics and Protestants will overlook their historic divisions and cooperate around a common religious objective, particularly the promotion of Sunday observance in the United States.

"Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience" (Great Controversy, p. 588).

These predictions are coming to pass as Protestantism becomes increasingly more politically active. American Protestants will seek governmental power and influence to advance Christian morality. In this effort, Catholics and Protestants will find common ground. Rather than remaining divided over their major theological differences, they will cooperate in pursuing ecumenical and political objectives, with Sunday observance becoming a central point of unity.

"The word of God teaches that these scenes are to be repeated as Roman Catholics and Protestants shall unite for the exaltation of the Sunday" (Great Controversy, p. 578).

This political alliance is a natural result of the assaults upon the freedom of professed Christians, by those of the Secular Humanist and Atheist faiths. Who seek to force their vision of morality and societal norms upon all. This is predictable behavior from those without the fear, knowledge, or wisdom of the God of Holy scripture. Seeking such an alliance to protect one's freedoms as the founders of this nation intended is one thing, seeking it in order to force your own moral and societal norms upon all is another altogether. Which would also equal undermining the liberties and freedoms our founders envisioned, and properly identified as inalienable rights given to every person from God Himself. Which no government has a right to infringe upon, but unto warring against God Himself. Who has most obviously granted such freedom to us all.

The base problem with this alliance, is that it requires silencing the propagation of the truth, for the sake of unity. "To forsake the truth for the sake of unity, can only lead to apostasy". Various denominations among whom many have already forsaken the truth, taking the next step in creating a political unity based upon silencing truth, can and will only to a further slide into apostasy. In the end, creating the exact kind of abusive and persecuting form of government, they now claim they are uniting to fight. Especially when Joining hands with the church of Rome, which never has and never will believe in and or allow for separation of church and state. Politically joining hands with the church of Rome, will only end in complete submission to her. As Holy scripture has plainly predicted.
