I Don't understand

So, I sent an e-mail to the moderators asking permission to mention my own book in the book section...Got an 'auto-reply' from 'Lee'...But, after two days...nothing...

So I post a mention of the book...No links, nothing obtrusive and in an hour I get a warning not to do that again...Why not just answer my question in the first place?

Which BTW is, is there somewhere on here it's legit to mention such a matter?

Self promotion of any kind on this website is strictly forbidden.


Many people have things that they do or are a part of that are promotable on the internet...and there are plenty of means to promote them without using this website as a platform for promoting them. This website has a purpose and promoting products (intellectual property or tangible goods) or non-profits may be tempting but isn't in it's scope of purpose whatsoever.


I have reviewed how you mentioned your book. And where you may claim that it was innocent, the manner in which it was mentioned complete with details of how a person might purchase said book was far from innocent. Your post was in essence promoting the book you had authored in order to gain increased interest and/or sales of your book.


This is a discussion forum for the principle interest of discussion and not promoting goods or services which is covered in the rules which can be found in the link I provided in this sentence.


Advertising for your book is easily purchased and obtained. It is not a free benefit of signing up to be a member of this forum.
