 Hi to all , and If the Body of Christ began in Acts 2 ,  WHY  did  Pentecost stop ??

Is it because , in Acts 2:17 , there are 5  Greek verb tenses all in the  FUTURE TENSE ?

  , The first verb  " IT  shall  COME M to pass /LEGO  "  IS IN THE gREEK  future tense !!

Where in the  FUTURE  will it , then begin again , as it needs to be comleted as Joel 2:28 says !!

First of all - "pentecost" is the greek name for a yearly celebration in Judaism called Shavuot (weeks).  It is so named because it is 50 days (seven weeks plus one day) after the Feast of First Fruits (Yom haBikkurim) and pentecost means "count 50."

So it happens EVERY YEAR.

As to the quoted statements from Joel 2; when that prophecy came the Day of First Fruits was at least 5 centuries in the future.  SO the future tense comes from that point, not the events of Acts 2.  Peter CORRECTLY quotes the passage and does not change the tense which would do damage to the scripture itself.

Who said it needs to begin again?  It is still ongoing.

Joel 2:12  "Yet even now," declares the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning;
Joel 2:13  and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.

In the same Chapter of Joel, he speaks of the people of God repenting and turning to Him.   Peter admonished these Jews who had gathered on Pentecost (Pentecost was the reason they had come and were there) to repent.   This was a call to turn FROM the Law and Moses and to be placed under the authority of Christ.   A Remnant believed and came to Christ but the majority of Jews continued to reject Him.   After the Temple was destroyed the Jewish faith became more decentralized and Rabbinical Judaism increased with an anti-Christian dogma taught by the rabbis.

Joel 2:27  You shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God and there is none else. And my people shall never again be put to shame.
Matt 28:20  ...And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

Who else but Christ?

 Hi , and Acts 2:17 says it will begin again after Rom 11:25 !

I do not see Jewish missionary going to the world as Matt 28:19 and 20 commanded them to do , do you ?

Israel has been set aside as Luke 13:6-9 reveals and Israel was never healed as John 12:40 says !!

Eph 3:9 says that all believers are to  "  make all see what is the Dispensation of the  MYSTERY  "  IS !!
