Many years ago when I was a young believer I had fallen into the trap of using my feelings/emotions as being a barometer of my spirituality.  Sometimes it can be easy for a believer, young or otherwise, to think that one must "feel" holy or a closeness to God.  I had really struggled with this.  Then one evening when I was with two other believers having a time of prayer the LORD spoke to my heart as I prayed and I have never forgotten these words.  The message is so simple yet so clear.  In the midst of my prayer this is what came to me, "For we are not to equate the level of our spirituality with the intensity of our feelings.'

Feelings are important but they can sometimes lie.
