Evangelical Catholics accept 'Blessed Assurance' and are in no doubt that most Catholics, especially those, who simply simply believe, will go to heaven when they die - do you simply simply believe that the very son of God died for the forgiveness of sins - let no one rob you of this simple belief for they will try[Mt.18:6] - wincam

Mt 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Evangelical Catholics and Protestants may profess whatever they wish, so can we all. Jesus Christ Himself though, will determine who is saved, and who is not. He apparently understood that there would be many who thought they were saved, but were not. An overly simplistic view of salvation, can be a dangerous thing.

trifecta

Amo,

Couldn't have said it better myself.

Over simplification is not the problem to simply  simply believe but complicating is - wincam

Catholica

The word "believe" in the Bible carries with it the connotation of action.  So I think that if we "simply believe" then we would "obediently do".  It is a lot harder to do for us fallen and redeemed persons than it should be.  The battle is overcoming our own pride in order to believe more simply, and so do what is commanded.

There is a big difference between "simply believing" and "believing salvation in a simplistic way".  So with that in mind I would say that all who have posted thus far are correct.

it seems to simply simply believe is very difficult if not impossible for adults but is required and necessary[Matt.18:3] - wincam

It is impossible for anyone including adults, but God not only helps us with his grace but makes up for us where we lack, as long as we are willing.

Js 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Obviously, there is a form of believing, that avails nothing.

yes it seems it is what we have been told most adults do with their complicated and complex ideas of simply simply believing mixed up with all sorts of complex and sinister and ulterior devilish motives - wincam

btw - it seems the whole of the bible and everything that has been written and taught is to remind us to simply simply believe - see Jn.20:30-31 - wincam
