I believe there are no true believers in the American sports leagues.

Some give glory to God, so they think, like Stephen Curry pointing to the ceiling after fistpumping his heart. I believe it's fake and phony, because real Christians would use their fame much much more to evangelize than they do.

And since *you* say so, it must be truth!

I cannot STAND it when other Christians do this!  They judge what a "real" Christian would do, by what *they* themselves might do.  Its not ok.

You have no earthly idea who God has put in his path to evangelize to, New Creature! NONE!  Just because he has "fame", does not mean he is called as Billy Graham is called; to the millions. AND, you have no idea what his actions or words have done to start a spark in the heart of someone who then reaches out to a believer in their life that is close to them, to get their questions answered...

Really sad that the Body of Christ is so petty so much of the time...weighing and measuring others and finding them lacking. IMO, that is spitting in the face of the grace lavished upon us on an hourly basis by a very gracious and merciful God.

The Body of Christ is not petty. How dare you say that?

HAha! How dare I? Due to threads just like this one.  They aren't doing what YOU want them to, the way that you want them to, so you say they aren't true believers. Petty.  You have no right to judge their standing with God. To do so based on what seems right in your eyes is petty!

Catholica

Lionel Messi, however, is a devout Catholic.

Catholica

Also, Novak Djokovic is a faithful orthodox believer, and it seems that Roger Federer is a faithful Catholic.  Rafael Nadal is an atheist however.

Although I've never encountered anything negative against the man, other than the usual anti-christian rhetoric, Tim Tebow appears to be a good man of God and continues to worship Him, quite publicly I might add.

No man knows the heart of another man, to a point that we can make a godly judgment call concerning that person being born of God~and without question make such a judgment as to be 100% sure....especially since being born of God and having spiritual fruits that follows is not instantly and never perfected in this life.  I would agree they are few, and far between, since if one is a spirit filled child of God, then there would be no place for him in such a arena. But, we are not speaking concerning being Spirit filled, but being a child of God, which are NOT one and the same. I known some I thought were indeed children of God; two men comes to my mine, and they are: Bill McCartney who was eventually force to step down as the university of Colorado football coach because of his openly and bold profession. Alvin Dart who coached in MLB, lived only less than five miles from me, after he retired. He had a sign in front of his house, praising the God of heaven; he just died couple years ago at the age of 90 plus. They are rare, but who's to say there are none?
QuoteFrom 2nd Timothy 2~........."And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his.
The Lord does indeed know those that are his. It was the Pharisees who said these words:
QuoteLuke 7:39~"Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.
This self righteous Pharisee thought within himself "IF" Jesus was a prophet then he would do this or that the way I WOULD! Well, we know Jesus was not only a prophet, but the greatest of them. This Pharisee was a good man, yet, he did judged men by the way HE WOULD HAVE DONE IT, which we should never judge others by that, never! Only pride in us moves us to do so.  We ALL have done this at one time, or another, let us be honest, and be ashamed that we have done so.  A correct understanding of regeneration would save some good people of making unrighteous judgments of others. The words of Red are ended. Job 31:40

Why?  Why is there no place for a Spirit filled child of God in that arena?

Aren't Christians supposed to AVOID an ostentatious display of faith? I mean, really, what do you want the guys to do, start preaching the word in the middle of a football game? Also, how do you know they aren't spreading the word? Remember, you only see them an hour a week; you have zero idea what they're doing with the rest of their time.
As said upthread, this is petty, so petty.

The majority of high schools that kids want to go to are religious schools .

Lebron went to St. Vincent–St. Mary High School is a co-educational college preparatory Catholic high school in Akron, Ohio.

Im pretty sure they have strict religious requirements .

Another big high school is St. Anthony High School in Jersey City

St. Anthony High School is a four-year co-educational Catholic school known for its high-powered basketball program.
