“Born Again”

       Nicodemus is a Pharisee, a ruler of the Jews. He is one of the religious scholars of Jesus' day. Nicodemus can very easily articulate theological law and moral virtue, but he can say nothing about the spirit. Nicodemus came to see Jesus by night to learn about this great mystery, to learn of the power to do miracles. No one was able to cause blinded eyes to open, turn water to wine, heal all manner of sickness and disease. Even the wind and the sea obey the command of Jesus.
       The miracles of Jesus gave witness to the rule of God. The rule of God is the kingdom of God it is the power of God. Jesus said to Nicodemus "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God." John 3:3. Nicodemus had seen Jesus do great and mighty things but Nicodemus's Spiritual eyes would be open through a spiritual birth. Only by the spirit is it possible for a man to see and know God. Jesus made it very clear to Nicodemus before you can part-take of the Kingdom of God "you must be born again".
      Nicodemus could not understand what Jesus meant by being born again. Jesus told Nicodemus "Except a man be born of water and of spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God," John 3:5. The water is symbolic to the word. For the word of God is like water to the soul. Water that flows from the throne of God into the depths of our being this water floods every desire and fills every need. This water is life to every thirty soul. It's good to know that whosoever will come shall find in Jesus A fountain of living water and you can drink freely.
      Jesus used the symbol of birth to be of the spirit. It is the spirit of the Lord that comes to take residence within the life of the believer. The spirit of Jesus is the abiding presence of God in power over sin, sickness and death. By the spirit we enter into the Kingdom of God to live in the power of miracles, signs and wonders. The spirit of the Lord is with us to teach all that is true, to reveal the will of God and give us power to perform it.
