Can you have the stomach flu without a fever and/or food poisoning without vomiting? Could stress also cause stomach distress? Not sure what it is but the last two days my belly has been off and I stayed home from work today. Glad I did and am hoping a day of rest will help.

Stress is definitely a major cause of stomach disorders, if you are eating good and do not have a fever I would look to stress as a likely culprit. Rest in Jesus and leave your burdens at the foot of the cross.

Hope you feel better soon.

I learned that my former mother -in -law died last week, and it's been a shock. I wonder if that is part of it. I also had a busier than usual week last week and was gone all day and home late Sat. I'm glad I took a rest day and hopefully my tummy will calm down soon. Rest in Him sounds good. I do carry too much!

Studies have shown that ginger can be a very effective treatment for some kinds of stomach upset. ... Try an all-natural ginger ale or chop up some fresh ginger root and make a tea. Here's an ace recipe for upset tums.

Prepares and takes about 10 minutes to make: 20 altogether.

4-6 thin slices raw ginger
1 1/2 - 2 cups water
juice from 1/2 lime, or to taste - or leave it out if you dislike it
1-2 tbsp honey or Agave nectar

Peel the ginger and slice thinly to maximize the surface area; this will help you make a very flavourful ginger tea. I like to mash my ginger using a pestle and mortar.

Boil the ginger in water for at least 10 minutes. For a stronger and tangier tea, allow to boil for 20 minutes or more, and use more slices of ginger.

You really can't over do it, so feel free to add as much ginger and simmer it for as long as you want. Remove from heat and add lime juice and honey or Agave nectar. But I think unprocessed honey is just as good.

-I'm sorry for your recent bereavement. Don't rush it. Here are some comforting verses for your hour of need:

Psalm 34:18 'The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.'

Joshua 1:9 'Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discourages, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.'

Matthew 5:4 'Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.'
