Notify?

When I click notify is that to notify when someone replies to my post via email or does that notify me on my computer itself? I want my posts private and not to be notified on my computer, only notified through my email. But aren't the posts automatically set to be notified via email?

When you click notify, YOU will get an email notification when someone replies in that thread, rather than having to continually be checking the thread.
