If a person can not be saved by their works, then can that person be condemned by those same works?

TimelessOne:

I think the bottom line is that our Lord God will make that decision, based on numerous circumstances surrounding the person/persons involved. Another thought is that we may achieve a new or different understanding by substituting "actions" in place of "works."

But all-in-all, anyone eternally rescued will be saved by "grace through faith," as Paul phrases it.

    P. S. I think this is the first post I've seen from your pen. So welcome aboard, if you are a newcomer.

The person not saved is, by definition, condemned by his works.

John 3:18  Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Rom 5:12  .....death spread to all men because all sinned--

The person saved is saved by grace through faith in spite of his works.

Ok.

e.r.m.

I think this passage answers the question quite directly
1 Corinthians 3:13-15 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. [14] If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. [15] If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved-even though only as one escaping through the flames.

e.r.m.,  the works of 1 Corinthians 3 is not works of law; rather they are individuals brought to Christ. They are the gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble laid upon the foundation which is Jesus Christ.  Each will individually be tested. And the "worker" will be acknowledged for the results of that test; but the worker's salvation shall not depend upon the results of that test.  There may be reward, positive or negative, based upon the results but it shall not affect the worker's salvation.  The worker will be saved based upon the results of the test of himself.
