Borrowing things from Amazon - knowing you'll return them after use

I've been watching YouTube videos on how to prep and stage your home to sell. Today, I saw a realtor saying people are starting to buy loads of new things - linens, rugs, decor, furniture - just to stage their home for the realtor pics, and maybe the first few showings, then returning every bit of it.
This will drive up prices on Amazon even more.
What will happen when Amazon pretty much shuts down all local businesses, then yanks up their prices more to cover this growing trend?
In the past, I've wondered how many people buy something like a dress from Amazon for a special occasion - wear it - then return it, and knew up front that was the plan? Doing that for a single item is bad enough, but buying all new stuff for the home, then returning it?
This will only end up hurting the consumer - especially when most/all local businesses are shut down due to Amazon's grip on retail.

Amazon will just end severely restricting returns.  And make it hard for legitimate problems to be addressed.

People buy tools from Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, etc, use them for a job, and then return them. It happens quite frequently. 

Costco and Walmart get a ton of returns also. I personally think it's time to crack down on return policies, this trend is getting out of hand.
