I was going to say that it had something to do with the factor of 9.  Other than the 9, you can pair up the rest of the numbers in such a way that they add up to 9.

8+1=9
5+4=9
7+2=9
6+3=9

Or... add them all up:

8+5+4+9+1+7+6+3+2 = 45

then, add together those two resulting digits...

4+5 = 9
