Resources

Patriciaredstone,

If you live within easy driving distance of a Barnes & Noble Booksellers they also have several timelines and study tools for sale like you describe.

This sounds like a great resource!  I like the fact that it's a chart; I've seen the book formats and while they are nice, I like being able to see the big picture at a glance. Where did you find it???

What else is a long hallway for, but to put up such a timeline?  It wouldn't be of interest to homeschoolers only, either.  Thanks, P.!

I'm taking mine to be laminated today! I have a nice long wall reserved for it! ... I wish my bathroom wall was long enough ;)

I have found a wondeful study tool! This world history spead sheet which provides parellel views of events, wars, leaders, art, philosophy, religious movements, plagues, poetry and literature ....
It is published in Canada by World History Online.

I have been shopping for the ideal prepared timeline for my son's 8th grade year, and it looks like I have found it!

Barnes and Noble is a great store, but they didn't have this chart. There's heaps of timelines out there, but this one is the best I have seen. It is the work of Andreas Nothiger (whoever that is!?) and boasts endorsements by James A. Michener, Issac Asimov and James Burke.

Several things make this one unique. It is a true chart -- like a wall map -- most of the timelines I have seen are in bookform, and the few that I have seen that are in one piece are way too abbreviated. Also, it is wholistic in that it gives art, philosophy and religion as much attention as wars and conflicts.

After reading all that I would indeed stick with what you found.

You can have a very limited view of the chart here:

I sent a check for $20.00 to the Cananda address with a note asking for the chart, and it came within the month.

That is a good chart.  When I was teaching I wish I had one like it.
