Looking for Parable/Story

I am trying to find a parable or 'story' I heard years ago.  It was basically about a man who had to carry a really heavy load (cross) and he was complaining to the Lord about it.  Well the Lord took him to a place were people were carrying all sizes of crosses and a room was full of cross of all sizes.  And the story/parable went something like the Lord told the man to pick the cross he thought he could carry.  the point being that the Lord gives each of use the burdens he knows we can carry or something like that.  Can anyone help.  thanks.
