Please, singles, don't buy into the "soul mate" myth.  The soul mate is an impossible standard which no man or woman can live up to, and keeps the seeker of such a creature in a perpetual state of looking for "the one".  Meanwhile, the person right for you is passing you by, because he/she doesn't fit that perfect mold you have crafted.  Your soul mate in your dreams doesn't snore in bed, doesn't leave dirty underwear on the floor, drink from the milk jug, etc.  You are looking for a preconceived perfect partner.  I'm telling you now,  there is not such creature as a soul mate.  Doesn't exist.  Look past the honeymoon, and think about the partner you will be with 'till death do you part! Listen to the Lord's Word when choosing your man or woman!

love,

(from me means I agree and have given you manna)

Also, you will probably not find your true love while looking for it. It's a serendipity thing -- happens when you least expect it.

If you get caught up on the "soul mate" myth, you'll fall for time travel, too.  video

It sounds like you have perhaps been hurt yourself by this myth as you call it.   Is there something specific we can pray about for you?

No, thanks.  I married my best friend, a real person to share all the ups and downs of life with, not some fairy tale.

Congratulations on your marriage to your "best friend" Sopranette.  You are very lucky to have someone to share and laugh with.  I have a friend that I have been friends with for 12 years...he likes me and he cracks me up...I think he would be a wonderful person for marriage.  Wish me luck!  We are talking right now and both around 30 years old, so I think it's time for me to settle down and I think he might want to settle down as well.  Maybe I will be as lucky as you and will get to marry my best friend.

Pray for me,

Kristina

I will pray for you, Kristinaf.  I hope that you will find happiness in marriage, as God meant this union to be.

One is fortunate to find someone with whom they can be relatively happy, without looking for the "perfect" man or woman. One of my sisters said she wouldn't marry until she found the perfect man. She's older than I am, and I'm 62. The last I knew she was still looking.  ::noworries::

A soul mate doesn't mean finding the pefect spouse, but just someone who is just right for you.
I was divorced after a 25 year marriage, was alone for 6 years, and three years ago at aged 49 I married the man who I consider to be my soul mate.
He isnt perfect, and I am DEFINATELY not perfect, but we 'clicked' straight from the start (in fact I knew after only 3 or 4 days that he was the one for me). it was as if we had known each other for years and years, and now its as if neither of us were ever married to anyone else.( His wife divorced him after meeting someone else after a 23 year marriage.)
He is also my very very very best friend and so much more.

My son who is 30 has been going out with a truly lovely Christian girl for 9 months now and they are so similar and SO right for each other also. He had to wait till he was 30 to meet anyone like this, but God wil bring the right person into you llfe at the right time if you trust him.

I also meant to say that even though I do consider this lovely man I married to be my soul mate, that doesnt mean that we havent had to work through stuff. We both came into this marriage with baggage from broken marriages and other things, and you ALWAYS have to work at any relationship. The first couple of years after we met/married were very hard but we were always very close and had a very strong bond, so this got us through.
Its just that he is just the right one for me and I couldn't wish for a better guy to be married to. He is the most patient, laid back, kind man I have ever known.
God will find the right guy (or girl) for you if you trust him. I had to wait 49 years but it was worth the wait!
