Hello again from a northern neighbour--and brother in the Lord Jesus Christ.
I have tried three times previous in this attempt to post this short story of how God used the script from the tv series The Love Boat to speak to my heart concerning remembering Him in the breaking of bread/communion/Lord's Supper. I'll spare you the details as to why it's taken me four times to get this story off the ground.  I hope that you like it--it's one of my favourites.

I am always astounded by the grace, power and love of God towards us, His children.  I honestly believe that our finite minds cannot grasp the magnitude of his attributes.  What really amazes me is when the god of all creation speaks to us personally--one on one.  This is a joyful truth that the world cannot understand.  Sometimes God 'bends over backwards' to get our attention.  He did this one evening while I was watching an old repeat of the series The Love Boat. (the original series)

In this particular scene there is a young lady who has just boarded the ship.  She has some luggage and the ship's doctor, always having an eye for pretty ladies, offers to help the young lady carry her baggage.  A metal latch on a suitcase catches his finger and leaves a cut.  She notices the blood and says, "O look...you're bleeding."  The doctor says that's okay.  She asks if there is anything she can do for him. The doctor smiles and says, "Well, yes there is...would you please accompany me at the captain's table tonight for dinner?"  She smiles and her response was seared into my heart by the Spirit of God.  You ready for this?  She says, "You bled for me--the least I can do is break bread with you."

I sat in silence, marvelling over what I had just heard.  I KNEW in my heart that God had spoken to me using the words from a secular tv script. Those words penetrated my heart to its core.  Only God can do that with me.  I believe the reason He called to me his attention was that I had begun to miss some of the breaking of bread services at our church (breaking of bread service followed by the family bible hour.)  This service is so close to the Lord's heart and He wanted to tell me that he wanted me there--all out of love.  I'll never forget that moment .

What do you think of this wee story?  It really happened.  Perhaps you have a similar experience?  Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you--not just for me but for others on this board.  You know...I was thinking this morning that being an only child I have never had siblings--no brother or sister.  But when I asked the Lord Jesus into my heart the Lord gave me an ocean of them!  You're one of them--and I thank the God of my salvation for you.

Take care everybody.  God so loves us.  "And everybody said,  "Amen!"
Michael

Mike, thanks for sharing.  It never ceases to amaze me what God will use to speak to us if we are listening.  God is love and love communicates.

Michael, I realize you have posted God Story #16, and I was wondering about the others (1-15), So I ran a search.  Here's #1.  Maybe you should put them in a blog so they'd be easier to find.  :) Just an idea.
God Bless

Hello Mickey;

I do believe in your stories; God speaks thru everything may it be in what they called secular or in the church.

I had this experience many times but there are few to mention;

one time i was watching Josh Groban concert on tv and when i hear he sing something reminds me how God created us with such talent and right there i prayed in thanksgiving for what Jesus done for me and for all His children; and i said to myself, indeed we are of worth in God.

Thanks for the pm. you made me feel special today. ::smile::
