If you are in a serious relationship, take a deep look at the father of your boyfriend.  Chances are, your boyfriend will have many of the same characteristics as his dad.  It may not be apparent early on, in the honeymoon phase, but as the years go by, they will become more obvious.  So be careful, and choose wisely.

They also say that about the mothers of the girls too dont they. My husbands dad was dead when I met my husband but from what I am told he is nothing like him in many ways and looks wise takes after his mum.
My son is also nothing like his dad in character and is more like me I think, but I guess we all take after one of our parents in many ways dont we, so it is good guide to meet the parents  anyway..

A father can be easy to anger, and a son may be totally different.. you never know. Like Abel and Kain were Gods sons, and yet totally different.

I agree.  I think it depends.  You could be raised in a "bad" environment and still turn out a halfway decent person.  Just because yo' daddy was a drug dealer or alcoholic, does not make one an alcoholic or drug dealer necessarily.  We can take the bad traits that our parents have an choose not to adopt them, or keep them in check.  I was not raised in the best of backgrounds, by one catholic and one non-believer, and miraculously I turned out to be a believer and a decent human being.  But God can pick and choose and call anyone He wants to.  Even if you came from a not great background with not the greatest parents in the world, not saying mine were horrible, but there was definitely some improvement to be made, you can turn out okay.  I do think it's important to see how the person treats his or her own parents.  I.e. if the guy reveres his mother and sister, then he will probably treat you kindly as well, likewise, if he is nasty to his mother, then watch out, he will probably possess the same kindof angst towards you!  I recently met a guy, who seemed very nice on the outside, until I saw how he interacted with his mother, and that definitely turned me of.  He was whiny, somewhat rude, and kindof degrading to her at times.  Definitely a big turn off.  (Run for the hills if you see something like that!)

Anyways, good luck on your search.  Good thing to keep in mind....

ex cathedra

Men must accept most of the blame for America's headless and two-headed families.

Men who control their families in a legal, worldly way make even godly women leery of male headship.
