HALO3 and future socialising.

I've been playing halo3 online for just under a year now. I must say it is the best game I've played!!. I'm just an average player - not the best. But man, there are halo freaks out there that are sooo flippen good that it amazes me. I recently watched a few MLG videos on you-tube, and these pros do it fulltime and I think they get paid for it!!. Over the past few months more and more of my mates are buying 360's and getting into halo. Times are definitly changing. It won't be long until you socialise online instead of socialising over a drink or any kind of physical presence..or that maybe the case now?!?!

I get online with my Xbox at least once a week to specifically play with my buddy I have know for 25+ years.  We get all his brothers that I know online with us too.  We are all spread out from West to East coast but it gives us a great time to catch up on things and all socialize together instead of just one on one phone calls.  It's a great way to stay connected and get to be competitive at the same time.

Yeah, its an awesome way to stay connected. Not only are you just connecting, but you are playing video games at the same time. Gold. Although, I know a few females that CANNOT understand how us males like to socialise and play games.   Hey, its male bonding time!!

cezza, I don't have a 360 or Halo 3, but I completely agree with you!  Girls absolutely do NOT understand us guys and our video games, sports, and overall maleness. 

Anyways...

I've gotten a couple online friends from BF:BC on PSN.  It's especially useful on PSN because there is actually a list of people you've recently played and it even tells you what game you played with them

I forget how high a rank I got in Halo 2's matchmaking system. I think 12, and people went has high as 27 or so! But I smeared all of my local friends.  

And heavens yes to male bonding!  

I remember playing Halo 2 with 7 other guys at the dorm regularly. We were all good, but me and another guy (who is a sniper--everybody's favorite) tended to be on top. I set my name to "Bulletsponge" and we played over LAN, so I'd gun down a room full and from the other room I'd hear some guys groan "Bullet . . . Sponge . . ." Great stuff. Against my plans we actually ended up participating in the midnight release silliness and that was great.

Cezza, with all due respect, I'm not going to buy a 360 because I already have a PS3.  Now...if I were to get a 360 for free, well then how bout it, but I'm not buying one for the limited number of exclusives (Halo 3, Gears 2, L4D, Mass Effect, and Fable 2) compared to the PS3 exclusives...(Resistance 1 and 2, Heavenly Sword, Uncharted 1 and 2, inFamous, rachet and clank, Killzone 2, MGS4, etc.).

Mmm Yeah, I see what your saying....because theres no way I would buy a PS3 when I have a 360 already. Especially when Halo is exclusive to 360!! Although 360 is better than PS3!!!!!!!!

No it goes to 50, but no one made it that high, so I'm told. The highest anyone got was 27 I believe (at least at the time).

I don't believe that the 360 is better than the PS3 because right now, the PS3 and the 360 are the same price.  The 360 RROD's approximately 56% of the time while the PS3 failure rate is only around 10%.  The PS3 has motion control, the 360 does not.  The PS3 has more exclusives, the 360 does not.  The PS3 has better exclusives, the 360 does not.  The PS3 has better graphics, the 360 does not.  The PS3 online is free, the 360 online is not.

Not sure where you are getting your info but 50% of the time for RLOD?  Not anymore with the new series of consoles not to mention MS stepped up and warrantied the Xbox's back to launch date when they weren't even under any requirement to.  I did have one get the red lights, it was well outside of the original warranty by probably 9 months, I called MS got a box 2 days later and another 5 days and I had a brand new Xbox sitting on my doorstep.  Not one problem since.  Graphics is a toss up, some games are much better on one of the other but most are identical.  PS3 online is a joke as 95% of PS3 owners will tell you.  Xbox live can't even be compared to PS3 online.  Demos, movies, Netflix, add ons, easy friends lists and the list just keeps growing.  For a couple bucks a month it would be worth it just for the streaming Netflix to my tv thru the Xbox.

Hmm...so, tell me again...what's so good about Xbox Live?  Let's see...PSN also has demos, movies, add ons, and an easy friends lists.  Can you surf the web on 360?  Can you rent movies on a 360?  Hmm?  It seems like you're getting the same benefits for the 360 than you would for the PS3, but you're paying if you're using a 360, which is a ripoff.

I totally was a Halo 2 madman about 2 years ago. I played on teams, though we weren't that great. I haven't even played Halo 3 though. But having a headset on and talking to guys as we sneaked up on other teams was a lot of fun. And it was funny. We talked and cut up the whole time. But my favorite Halo buddy had to sell his Xbox because he needed the money and we've both had to work more and play less. I'd like to play again when I can play and not feel jittery and nervous about not working.
