Politics is a dirty business, and there is no shortage of FAKE NEWS out there.

So, do yourself (and us) a favor - before you perpetuate the latest bit of hot news, make sure it's hasn't been disproven already.  Here are a number of sites that provide fact-checking news/articles/services:

I can't tell you these are all neutral.  Many of them TRY to be, but...  Snopes is certainly liberal.  CheckYourFact purports to be conservative.  I've simply listed off a bunch I found doing a quick round-up.  If you've got others that you'd like to recommend, please use the comments to share.

Bypass the fact checkers and do some of your own work.  Otherwise you are at the same issue you were at before.  Trusting some other schmuck behind a computer for truth.  Someone that might have an agenda.

Yes.   Better yet, check several if the story sounds really odd.   And it doesn't hurt to look at those with a bias, if you balance it on both sides.  Ethical fact-checkers will provide links where applicable.
