Great Awakening

The Great Awakening was an amazing period in history. God used men like George Whitefield to transform America and Great Britain with thousands being converted. Learn more about him in these videos:

What do you guys think of Whitefield and the Great Awakening?

[JohnDB]

I read about Whitfield yesterday. A friend of Benjamin Franklin this guy had a booming voice and looked cross-eyed. It was estimated that he could speak to 40,000 people at once. But his largest audience was around 20,000.

As a calvinist he had many of his sermons published. He also was in the practice of putting up handbills before he preached. (Very successful at that time)

He was originally opposed to slavery but then endorsed it when he arrived in Savannah citing scripture to prove his points.

He was one of the great Evangelists in the past, though did not seem to be comprehensive as a Teacher or Pastor.  We can be thankful for the works of all saints, and especially of those notable ones who made a significant contribution.
