Catholic dogma dictates that baptism is the remission of Original Sin.
It cleanses the wound of the sin, but the wound still remains to be healed.

The differences in baptism are essentially moot, whether you consider it symbolic or supernatural, which is why the Church still recognizes Protestant baptism.

There is a lot of false information about baptism, I don't know why it such a difficult subject for so many.
*Actually, that's probably the reason right there Lol*

Can you show me a scripture where is says that it is when we become a child of God.

Acts 2
37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"

38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call."

40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation." 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

Peter said also
" Baptism does now also save ....."

When the Eunuch had salvation preach to him and he understood he saw water and ask to be baptized.

I could give more it would just start another one of the endless debates about the importance of baptism.  However, the long and short of it is God said do it so why would one not?

"
Again....
I believe the correct Greek the verse you quoted is..."Be baptized..into the remission of sins." Their sins were remitted when they repented and put their faith in Jesus Christ. They were baptized as the outward testimony that the apostles acknowledged they had met the conditions. THey were already in the condition into which they were baptized.

Galatians 3:24-27 futher proves this. "Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified BY FAITH. But AFTER FAITH has come, we are no longer under a tutor. For you are all sons of God THROUGH FAITH IN CHRIST JESUS. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ."
THe order is clear here...Saving faith in Jesus Christ (John 6:47). Notice they were already in Christ, then they were baptized into Christ as the acknowledgemnt that they were in Christ.

If we go on to Rom. 6:2-4 it says we were baptized into the death of Jesus Christ. Paul said "We were buried with Him through baptism into death"....we do not bury a person to make them dead. When we bury a person he is already dead, right? So baptism does not make you saved! You are saved before you are baptized.

We can also see this in Johns baptism..."I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance"...literally it is INTO repentence. So were the people John baptized previously repented BEFORE he baptized, YES! Because John would not baptize the Pharisees and Sadducees UNTIL they had repented/had fruits of repentence. So this again shows that baptism is not repentence itself! But acknowledgement of your repentence.

Water baptism in the symbol of repentance and washing away of sins.
When a person accepts Christ he will receive the Holy Spirit and is baptized with the Holy Spirit. At that moment the person is placed in the body of Christ.

QuoteCanon 5: If anyone says that baptism is optional, that is, not necessary for salvation,[13] let him be anathema.

QuoteCanon 2: If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism[9] and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Ghost,[10] let him be anathema.

Water baptism is necessary for salvation (John 3:5).

Who cares about the council of Trent?  No me.  I only care about what the scriptures say, not a bunch reprobates who pronounce curses upon children of God who reject their heresies.  The council of Trent is nothing more than a bunch babbling by the Pharisees of their day.

RB

I must say you're the reprobate. Of course you don't care about the Council of Trent because it condemns you for the heretic you are.

I don't think you are supposed to call another member a heretic.
