Letting go

Blah.  I know that I have to let go of my adult kids. I know its whats best for them, their autonomy, their self worth, and vital to their discovery of who they are in Christ, apart from the faith of their parents who raised them...but dang...its hard.

Harder still is that its never ending!  You think, "I got this! Look at me go, in my letting go! I'm a rock star mom, respecting their boundaries and giving them space, believing in them, trusting their choices, supporting their endeavors." And then...you start to see as they move away from *your* arms,  they move *towards* the hands of OTHERS! WHAT?! UGH! HAHA!

I love my daughter in law, but it BUGS me when I see her family "mommy" her husband, my son.
Or my other un-married son being "mommied" by his gal pal's aunts.
Or that my daughter has met her new boyfriend's grandparents, but we've not seen a hair on his head yet. 

Over and over again, I have to deny self, let them go, every stinking *day*! It is a never ending process and today, I guess, it just stinks.

I don't want to share them with another family! I DON' WANNA! (Sharing. should. be ---> )

But, I will...I will suck it up, deny self and share what is more precious to me than even my own life...but I won't like it, I tell you! 

Okay...I'll pray about it, this terrible selfish attitude and I'll learn to like it.
Its good they are loved by more than me.
Its good that they be accepted, welcomed and loved.
Its good they find their own way in the world.

I never thought of this perspective. It made me very empathetic towards your. Sorry for your struggle, MeMyself.

I feel for you in your struggle but I am also glad that I haven't had that same struggle:-)

I guess  GOD  has  blessed me.......  My husband and I moved in with one of our sons.
After a few months  he passed away..... I am still here and it sure is much better then being
alone..........  The money I would spend on   bills,  water , elct.  etc.....   is going for  food to fee
us all.........

and with  8 grand children...... oh  wow.......

  Oh thank you! I was having a hard day, obviously...I am feeling a bit more balanced and the Lord is good to sooth me when it all feels unfair.
