A bridge across time!

Daniel 9:26-27, "And after threescore and two weeks (434 Years) shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself:"

The colon tells us there's a break in time before the following occurs. "and (40 years later) the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city (Jerusalem) and the sanctuary; (this by the Romans in 70 A.D)."

Daniel 9:27, And he (Messiah) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even UNTIL ----"

"Until" is a word of time future, and to this very day, almost 2000 years have passed. From the time Messiah was revealed in October of 26 A.D., we will have bridged 20 centuries. So, the question, Until what?

"until the consummation (completion), and that determined (by God) shall (his wrath) be poured upon the desolate (the desolator.)"

This prophesy is of the nature of the author, and that author is the LORD. And with the LORD, 2 Peter 3:8, "a thousand years are as one day;---."

Let's call it a springing effect or a leap across the centuries only to once again germinate or shoot forth to its completion, the past 2000 Years has been called, the church age, the age of grace, or the "time of the Gentiles."

Let's see what Hosea has to say about this 2000 Year bridge. Hosea 5:1, Hosea is speaking to, "the house of Israel," the 12 tribes. The rest of the chapter points out the sins of the people, and the punishment to come.

Hosea 5:15, "I (the Lord Jesus) will go (this after the cross) and return to my place, (right hand of the Father) UNTIL they (the Jews) acknowledge (confess) their offense (still future) and seek my face: in their affliction (God's wrath) they will seek me early (diligently)."

Now here's the key, Hosea 6:2, "After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight."

"After (is another time word) two days (2000 Years) will he (Jesus) revive us (restore to spiritual life the Jews):"

"Revive us:" (colon). Again, we have a colon that takes us into another time, "the third day" the beginning of Christ's 1000 years reign. Then we read, "he (Jesus) will raise us (the Jews) up, and we shall live in his sight."

Let's see if we can support the above with another prophesy. Let's turn to Luke 4 and compare it to Isaiah 61. Keep in mind, throughout Jesus earthly ministry, he was under law.

Luke 4:16-17, "And he (Jesus) came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day,..."

"...and stood up for to read. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book (or the scroll); he found the place where it was written,"

Jesus had this portion of Scripture in mind and for a specific purpose. When He came to this portion of Scripture he read,

Luke 4:16-17, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." Period! end of sentence, here's where he stopped.

Now turn to Isaiah 61:2, where we find after the word LORD, not a period as we find in Luke 4, but a comma. So, what did Jesus leave out when he was reading from the scroll in the synagogue? "The day of vengeance of our God;"

Isaiah never wrote about the church age because it was never revealed to him. Also, Jesus did not read "the day of vengeance of our God;" because it was not the reason he came.

"And he closed the book (or the scroll), and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them (as they sat there, marveling at what He had said and done.), (He then concludes with, "This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears."

Jesus knew; He stopped exactly where his earthly ministry would begin and end. Whatever the LORD has in store for the Jews has been put off now for almost 2000 years. The twelve apostles know nothing of this, the Jewish people didn't know, neither did the prophets.

Question, what was one of the LORD's promises to the Jews? Exodus was written by Moses some 3500 years ago. Exodus 19:5-6; as they came out of Egypt, the Jews were camped around Sinai. The Lord told Moses,

"If you will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar (special) treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: and you shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation."

Now Isaiah was written 2700 years ago. Isaiah 61:6, "But ye (the Jews) shall be named the Priests of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers (servants) of our God:" Has this happened yet? No!
Zachariah was written 2500 years ago.

Zachariah 8:23, "Thus saith the LORD of hosts; in those days (after the tribulation) it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the (Gentile) nations, even shall take hold of the skirt (sleeves) of him that is a Jew, saying, we will go with you (to Jerusalem): for we have heard that God is with you."

That promise made to the Jews by the LORD still stands, and one day will be fulfilled. Christ came, presented Himself and his salvation, declaring it to be, "the acceptable year of the Lord." Then 2000 years would be followed by the 7 Years of Tribulation, ending Daniel's 70th week. This followed by the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ.

So, what all the prophets had left out of their writings was the 2000 years we call, the age of grace. Hosea mentions it, but didn't understand it. This bridge in time remained a mystery hid in the mind of God, and only now revealed.

In Acts 1:6-7, after his resurrection and moments before his ascension, the apostles asked Jesus, "Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, it is not for you (the Jews) to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power."

No-one knows the exact day or hour, but we may have a clear picture of the year. When the Lord read from the book of Isaiah, he had been baptized by the Holy Spirit and revealed as the Jewish Messiah at the river Jordon between the middle to the end of October 26 A.D. So, if we were to add the 2000 years or (2 days) Jesus could return sometime in October of 2026 A.D., seven years after the church has been caught away, that possibly being before October of 2019.

Another attempt to specify the date of Jesus' return.  Why does anyone engage is such foolishness?  Also, where does it ever say that Jesus was baptized by the Holy Spirit?

4WD, I happen to enjoy researching prophesy. Never considered studying the Bible, foolishness. Feel it's important to warn people about what's coming, even skeptics like you. This way when you meet the Lord one day, you can't say "I wasn't warned, I didn't know!" Well anyway, that's my take, also, if you're not interested in end time prophesy, why do you bother reading these post?

Concerning baptism, maybe you had better study what the word means, but I'll try to answer your question, "where does it ever say that Jesus was baptized by the Holy Spirit? "

John 1:32-34, "And John (the Baptist) bare record (witness) saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode (remained) upon him (Jesus). And I (John) knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God."

Compare that with Isaiah 11:2, "And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD." There is no doubt that this was permanent and a perfect resting of the Holt Spirit upon the Son of God.

Mark 10:38-39. Jesus said, "Can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? --- Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized;"

I hope you don't think being baptized with the Holy Spirit means he takes you and drops you in a pond or throws a bucket of water over you, or do you?

There's much more; but if you still don't get it, pray the for spiritual baptism by the Holy Spirit just as Jesus was baptized with the Holy Spirit.

LaSpino,

I am not a sceptic about Jesus' return.  I know without a doubt that He will.  But neither I nor you have the slightest idea of when that is going to happen. It should be obvious, given all those that have tried to predict it only to be proven wrong, just how foolish it is to attempt it.  Not even Jesus, when he walked the earth, knew that.

And with respect to John 1:32-34 there is not one word about Jesus being baptized with the Holy Spirit.  It says the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus and it says that Jesus will baptize with the Holy Spirit, but not one word about Jesus being baptized with the Holy Spirit.  You are confused about the distinction between the Holy Spirit coming to rest upon someone and that someone being baptized with the Holy Spirit.  But I understand your confusion.  You are most definitely not alone in your confusion.

Clearly the cup and the baptism in this verse refer to Jesus' suffering, death and humiliation.
It does not refer to baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Obviously AVZ.  But LaSpino wouldn't understand that.  He sees that as just Bla Bla Bla rather than what the Bible actually says.  That seems to be the case with a lot of Laspino's ideas; certainly his ideas about Jesus return.
