Today, Texas Tech blew their chance for bowl eligibility. Strong speculation says Kingsbury's job was on the line.

https://wreckemred.com/2018/11/22/texas-tech-football-kirby-hocutt-says-record-is-only-thing-that-matters/

Kirby Hocutt (Athletic Director) says, "Unfortunately, we just seem to continue to have lapses in focus," he said.  "Lack of discipline at certain times and those mistakes, those penalties continue to affect us and the success we're not experiencing right now."

The quote is basically saying the blame is on coach Kingsbury and his staff. I have to agree.

Maybe he is out. ::shrug::

Jaime

Are you a Red Raider, Soterion?

I would bet Kingsbury is out.

soterion

I am a Red Raider, not by virtue of having gone to school there, but because I live in the area.

I tend to be a fan of teams based on where I live. It wouldn't do in my circle of friends and coworkers to support the Sooners or the Longhorns, aka, The Evil Empire. ::smile::  If I understand correctly, the Big 12 playoff next weekend will be between those two teams. I would that Oklahoma beats Texas...badly.

On a different note, the Ohio State vs Michigan game was a good one. I know many are upset that Michigan lost, but this is college football; anything can happen.

I was born in Lubbock and was raised on a cotton farm near the small town of Shallowater, Texas. I graduated from TexasTech in 1975, and have been a fan all my life. I am always a Tech fan in addition being a fan of whoever The Longhorns are playing that week.

Do you live in West Texas?

Yeah, Kingsbury is out.

Among several replacements on Texas Tech's list appears to be Brent Venable, Defensive Coordinator for Clemson, and for Oklahoma before that. I think that would be a good choice for us. I just don't believe we have anything to offer him to commit and come out here.

We'll see. ::whistle::

We definitely could use a defensive guru!

My bet is on Seth Littrell at North Texas. He's done a great job there and would hopefully feel that Tech was a move up. AND he would probably bring Graham Harrell as Offensive Coordinator to carry on the air raid offense.

soterion

Yeah, Seth Littrell may be the more likely pick for us, considering our current status.

He just might be the one to turn things around for Tech. ::smile::

soterion

Okay, Kingsbury was hired as Offensive Coordinator for the Trojans. I can't wait to see USC vs. Wash State where two former TT head coaches will be on opposite sides. ::smile::

Texas Tech hired Utah State's Matt Wells as head coach. Good luck Tech. ::cool::

Gotta hope for the best. I hear the Tech supporters are not happy about the choice of new coach

Excuse me for not knocking before entering the men's locker room, but I thought I heard someone discussing the Sooners in here.
Please watch this short video and take in the thrill of the moment.--

Ok, I'll leave the locker room now. Getting ready to watch my little town's team in the 6AI final tonight from the comfort (and safety) of my living room. We're in a tornado watch and things are starting to pop around here. Hope everyone stays safe tonight, both on the field and off!  ::prayinghard::

My local team made a touchdown in the first 12 seconds of the game!!!!  ::cheerleader:: ::cheerleader:: ::cheerleader::

Ok, no more play-by-play from me.  ::blushing::

Yeah, not much joy in the decision. I did see a few articles online where Tech offered some reasons why Wells is a good choice for the job. His contribution to a 10-2 record this season for Utah State is at least one good reason.

One thing seems apparent- the Air Raid era is over for Tech. If I read correctly, Matt Wells is not a fan of it.

You're welcome to this locker room whenever you want. ::smile::

The Sooners are leading in the half against the Longhorns. I hope they keep it up. ::applause::

I know of a couple of oil millionaires in Fort Worth that offered to fund the difference in Leach or Holgerson and Kingsbury's salary.
