Believing the truth of biblical testimony regarding the existence of giants in the past is not speculation, it is faith in the Holy Scriptures. This is not to mention that the evidence of giantism even among the plants and animals of the past is plentiful. We know plants, animals, and even insects were much larger in the past than they are now. There is no good reason to suspect that humanity created by God to oversee this world, would be physically dwarfed by almost everything around them.

Without question, Humans of the past being bigger and better than we are today, would cause major problems for the theory of evolution. It would basically prove that humanity has been devolving, not evolving. Like so many other plants, animals, and insect obviously have as well. If you do not think people will do what it takes protect their interests, including hiding crucial information that could destroy those interests, then you do not understand fallen humanity very well at all. The Holy Scriptures and history of this world are replete with just such events over and over again.

Nevertheless, you are of course free to believe any and all "official" narratives you please. As I and others are as free to reject such for many and various good reasons.

Interesting testimony from a book published in 1890 I do believe. I've read this book more than once, but never really noticed this reference to what certain scientists of the day were claiming and or addressing. Emphasis in quoted material is mine.

Geologists claim to find evidence from the earth itself that it is very much older than the Mosaic record teaches. Bones of men and animals, as well as instruments of warfare, petrified trees, et cetera, much larger than any that now exist, or that have existed for thousands of years, have been discovered, and from this it is inferred that the earth was populated long before the time brought to view in the record of creation, and by a race of beings vastly superior in size to any men now living. Such reasoning has led many professed Bible believers to adopt the position that the days of creation were vast, indefinite periods.

But apart from Bible history, geology can prove nothing. Those who reason so confidently upon its discoveries have no adequate conception of the size of men, animals, and trees before the Flood, or of the great changes which then took place. Relics found in the earth do give evidence of conditions differing in many respects from the present, but the time when these conditions existed can be learned only from the Inspired Record. In the history of the Flood, inspiration has explained that which geology alone could never fathom. In the days of Noah, men, animals, and trees, many times larger than now exist, were buried, and thus preserved as an evidence to later generations that the antediluvians perished by a flood. God designed that the discovery of these things should establish faith in inspired history; but men, with their vain reasoning, fall into the same error as did the people before the Flood—the things which God gave them as a benefit, they turn into a curse by making a wrong use of them.

Many of the testimonies about giants referred to above, have been shared on this thread. Some believe that all the testimony regarding giants of the past around the globe throughout history, represent continuous hoax's. Others suspect foul play concerning a manipulated and controlled narrative. One's world view will of course seriously affect which testimony one believes is true.

The following article on Niagara Falls, in Mr. Lincoln's handwriting, was found among his papers after his death:
"Niagara Falls! By what mysterious power is it that millions and millions are drawn from all parts of the world to gaze upon Niagara Falls? There is no mystery about the thing itself. Every effect is just as any intelligent man, knowing the causes, would anticipate without seeing it. If the water moving onward in a great river reaches a point where there is a perpendicular jog of a hundred feet in descent in the bottom of the river, it is plain the water will have a violent and continuous plunge at that point. It is also plain, the water, thus plunging, will foam and roar, and send up a mist continuously, in which last, during sunshine, there will be perpetual rainbows. The mere physical of Niagara Falls is only this. Yet this is really a very small part of that world's wonder. Its power to excite reflection and emotion is its great charm. The geologist will demonstrate that the plunge, or fall, was once at Lake Ontario, and has worn its way back to its present position; he will ascertain how fast it is wearing now, and so get a basis for determining how long it has been wearing back from Lake Ontario, and finally demonstrate by it that this world is at least fourteen thousand years old. A philosopher of a slightly different turn will say, 'Niagara Falls is only the lip of the basin out of which pours all the surplus water which rains down on two or three hundred thousand square miles of the earth's surface.' He will estimate with approximate accuracy that five hundred thousand tons of water fall with their full weight a distance of a hundred feet each minute--thus exerting a force equal to the lifting of the same weight, through the same space, in the same time.

"But still there is more. It calls up the indefinite past. When Columbus first sought this continent--when Christ suffered on the cross--when Moses led Israel through the Red Sea--nay, even when Adam first came from the hand of his Maker; then, as now, Niagara was roaring here. The eyes of that species of extinct giants whose bones fill the mounds of America have gazed on Niagara, as ours do now. Contemporary with the first race of men, and older than the first man, Niagara is strong and fresh to-day as ten thousand years ago. The Mammoth and Mastodon, so long dead that fragments of their monstrous bones alone testify that they ever lived, have gazed on Niagara--in that long, long time never still for a single moment (never dried), never froze, never slept, never rested."
