Ellen White became a "sun worshipper" when threatened.

Ellen White Review and Herald, July 13, 1897 wrote: "When you obey the decree that commands you to cease from labor on Sunday and worship God,...you consent to receive the mark of the beast."

So, in the late 1800's, going to church on Sunday to worship God, gave you the mark of the beast.

But while in Australia during the early 1900's, she changed her mind and wrote: "Whenever it is possible, let religious services be held on Sunday. Make these meetings intensely interesting. Sing genuine revival hymns, and speak with power and assurance of the Saviour's love".— Testimonies to the Church volume 9 p. 232, 233.

And yet, when confronted with the distinct possibility of being arrested for working on Sunday, while in Australia, she tells the church to GO TO CHURCH ON SUNDAY AND WORSHIP GOD!!?!??

Which Ellen White will you believe?

Surprising Alan, to see you hop on the bandwagon of one who has repeatedly misquoted the same person over and again as proved on these threads over and again. As pointed out previously and more than once on these boards, people who quote only partial sentences from others are usually avoiding context for a good reason. They intend to deceive. CO2 has been caught red handed committing this false witness several times on these boards already, as well as others. Nevertheless, those who wish the many false testimonies shared on these boards over the years to be true, continue to applaud such and or engage in supportive gestures as though the truth has been revealed. So be it.

Before addressing the above false testimony concerning CO2's constant labors to present an EGW of her own design, I should like to remind her and all others of certain biblical truths.

Exo 20:16  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Deu 19:16  If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him that which is wrong; 17 Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days; 18 And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; 19 Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

Pro 19:5  A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall not escape.

Pro 19:9  A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish.

Pro 25:18  A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.

Mat 19:18  He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

Rom 13:8  Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. 9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

There is no excuse for bearing false witness. Unless we all repent of the same, we shall burn in the lake of fire. It is right and commendable to defend what we believe to be truth, but it is never right to twist and mutilate the words of another individual into meaning that which they never intended. This is bearing false witness, and all who do so without repenting of the same will perish in the lake of fire. God forgives sin, He does not excuse it. There is no excuse for that which caused the death of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Debating doctrinal biblical truth, is not a game, and should never include bearing false witness to win. That being said, let's look at the partial sentence quoted by CO2 in context, paying particular attention to that which was removed from the single sentence quoted which I will color red and highlight, and other important criteria specified.

QuoteMany have never understood that Sunday is not the Sabbath of the fourth commandment. In his subtlety, Satan has covered up this fact, and has presented a common day as sacred, that the whole world may become guilty before God by transgression. Many are utterly ignorant that they are not keeping the fourth commandment. It is essential for all to seek for truth from the divine guide book, that they may decide what the Lord says on this question. Men have said much, but we cannot build our faith on the words of any man. There are two sides to this question. The God of heaven presents his law, and Satan holds out his spurious Sabbath. There are two classes,—the obedient and the disobedient, the tempted and the tempters.
The time has come for the true light to shine amid moral darkness. The third angel's message has been sent forth to the world, warning men against receiving the mark of the beast or of his image in their foreheads or in their hands. To receive this mark means to come to the same decision as the beast has done, and to advocate the same ideas, in direct opposition to the word of God. Of all who receive this mark, God says, "The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb."
If the light of truth has been presented to you, revealing the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, and showing that there is no foundation in the word of God for Sunday observance, and yet you still cling to the false Sabbath, refusing to keep holy the Sabbath which God calls "My holy day," you receive the mark of the beast. When does this take place?—When you obey the decree that commands you to cease from labor on Sunday and worship God, while you know that there is not a word in the Bible showing Sunday to be other than a common working-day, you consent to receive the mark of the beast, and refuse the seal of God. If we receive this mark in our foreheads or in our hands, the judgments pronounced against the disobedient must fall upon us. But the seal of the living God is placed upon those who conscientiously keep the Sabbath of the Lord.(THE REVIEW AND HERALD July 13, 1897)

The above is concerning those who have had the light of truth presented to them, and understand it, concerning the yet future time of the global decree to worship or rest on Sunday, or at least when the US passes a national Sunday law. For those suggesting such a notion is based upon paranoia or incorrect understanding of biblical prophecy, it should be noted that just a few years prior to the above testimony, Sunday keepers did in fact attempt to pass a national Sunday law.

NATIONAL SUNDAY-REST BILL

SENATE BILL No. 2983, INTRODUCED IN FIRST SESSION OF FIFTIETH CONGRESS,
BY SENATOR H. W. BLAIR, MAY 21, 1888.

BILL TO SECURE TO THE PEOPLE THE ENJOYMENT OF
THE FIRST DAY OF THE WEEK, COMMONLY KNOWN
AS THE LORD'S DAY, AS A DAY OF REST, AND TO
PROMOTE ITS OBSERVANCE AS A DAY OF RELIGIOUS WORSHIP.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, That no person or corporation, or the agent, servant, or employee of any person or corporation, shall perform or authorize to be performed, any secular work, labor, or business, to the disturbance of others, works of necessity, mercy, and humanity excepted; nor shall any person engage in any play, game, or amusement, or recreation, to the disturbance of others, on the first day of the week, commonly known as the Lord's day, or during any part thereof, in any territory, district, vessel, or place, subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the United States; nor shall it be lawful for any person or corporation to receive pay for labor or service performed or rendered in violation of this section.

SECTION 2. That no mails or mail matter shall hereafter be transported in time of peace over any land postal route, nor shall any mail matter be collected, assorted, handled, or delivered during any part of the first day of the week: Provided, That whenever any letter shall relate to work of necessity or mercy, or shall concern the health, life, or decease of any person, and the fact shall be plainly stated upon the face of the envelope containing the same, the Postmaster-General shall provide for the transportation of such letter or letters in packages separate from other mail matter, and shall make regulations for the delivery thereof, the same having been received at its place of destination before the said first day of the week, during such limited portion of the day as shall best suit the public convenience and least interfere with the due observance of the day as one of worship and rest: And provided further, That when there shall have been an interruption in the due and regular transmission of the mails, it shall be lawful to so far examine the same when delivered as to ascertain if there be such matter therein for lawful delivery on the first day of the week.

SECTION 3. That the prosecution of commerce between the States and with the Indian tribes, the same not being work of necessity, mercy, nor humanity, by the transportation of persons or property by land or water in such way as to interfere with or disturb the people in the enjoyment of the first day of the week, or any portion thereof, as a day of rest from labor, the same not being labor of necessity, mercy, or humanity, or its observance as a day of religious worship, is hereby prohibited; and any person or corporation, or the agent or employee of any person or corporation, who shall willfully violate this section, shall be punished by a fine of not less than ten nor more than one thousand dollars; and no service performed in the prosecution of such prohibited commerce shall be lawful, nor shall any compensation be recoverable or be paid for the same.

SECTION 4. That all military and naval drills, musters, and parades, not in time of active service or immediate preparation therefor, of soldiers, sailors, marines, or cadets of the United States, on the first day of the week, except assemblies for the due and orderly observance of religious worship, are hereby prohibited, nor shall any unnecessary labor be performed or permitted in the military or naval service of the United States on the Lord's day.

SECTION 5. That it shall be unlawful to pay or to receive payment or wages in any manner for service rendered, or for labor performed, or for the transportation of persons or of property in violation of the provisions of this act, nor shall any action lie for the recovery thereof; and when so paid, whether in advance or otherwise, the same may be recovered back by whoever shall first sue for the same.

SECTION 6. That labor or service performed and rendered on the first day of the week in consequence of accident, disaster, or unavoidable delays in making the regular connections upon postal routes and routes of travel and transportation, the preservation of perishable and exposed property, and the regular and necessary transportation and delivery of articles of food in condition for healthy use, and such transportation for short distances from one State, District, or Territory, into another State, District, or Territory, as by local laws shall be declared to be necessary for the public good, shall not be deemed violations of this act, but the same shall be construed, so far as possible, to secure to the whole people rest from toil during the first day of the week, their mental and moral culture and the religious observance of the Sabbath day.

Defending false accusations with another false accusation, is no argument. You are ignorant concerning the writings of EGW and apt to stay that way, because you do not examine them to understand that which the writer intended to express, but only to attack and accuse. So be it.

And you deliver another rationalization in defence of a proven false prophet.

No, thank you for once again demonstrating your frequent habit of completely twisting the words of others to your own ends. You bear witness of yourself every time you do.

You really do need to brush up on your use of the English language and be more precise in your modifiers then.

And you use a 130+ year old piece of failed legislation to prove your theory of a possible Sunday law.

If you aren't a genius - I wouldn't be surprised.

Insults might make you feel better, but they are no argument. Sunday laws are on the books all over the place. Several countries have past them in recent years. Denial doesn't make these facts go away.
