I just saw a doctor interviewed who is treating the coronavirus patients at a hospital in NYC. He said they're seeing something they've never seen in previous virus/flu patients. Most of the patients that are hospitalized with coronavirus have pre-diabetes. All of the ones in ICU have pre-diabetes or diabetes. He says, yes, diabetics are at higher risks for complications in any illness, but they've never seen this type of virus where virtually all the seriously ill patients are pre-diabetics or diabetics.

During this time of confinement, I've been stress eating chocolate. Back on keto tomorrow. I always bounce around that danger line on my blood sugar readings, so I need to whip that thing back into submission!!

Just thought I'd share what the doctor said and encourage all here to watch those carbohydrates.

I heard some other anecdotal story about ibuprofen causing worse symptoms in those with COVID19.

I will take all these stories with a grain of salt.

The numbers are telling me so far that in the USA, is that COVID19 is behaving like a really bad flu year.  How is our system being completely overtaxed with 80k+ positive tests, and not all hospitalizations, when in 2017/2018 there were 808,129 hospitalizations and 61,099 deaths?  And this was largely over three months between November of 2017 and February of 2018.

Something just doesn't compute here.

Dr. Deborah Birx of the White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator is bringing up the UK re-evaluating its estimate on potential deaths.  And its impact on the United States.

As the country battled the second deadliest wave of Coronavirus, surviving and recovering was no less than a blessing for most people. But is the struggle of recovering from this dreadful virus attack the same for everyone? Well, the answer to this varies from person to person, but if you have any underlying health issues like diabetes, blood pressure, or slackening cardiac health, then the road to recovery becomes even more difficult!

What should people with diabetes know and do?

For people living with diabetes, it is important to take precautions to avoid the virus if possible. The recommendations that are being widely issued to the general public are doubly important for people living with diabetes and anyone in close contact with people living with diabetes.

1. Wash hands thoroughly and regularly.
2. Try to avoid touching your face before you have washed and dried your hands.
3. Clean and disinfect any objects and surfaces that are touched frequently.
4. Don't share food, glasses, towels, tools, etc.
5. When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or use the crook of your arm if you don't have a tissue to hand (dispose of the tissue appropriately after use).
