Kroger sells a carbonated punch that is TASTY. I've become a fan of IBC's Cherry Limeade (over crushed ice). I also like Vanilla Coke with a splash of juice from the jar of cherries my wife keeps in the fridge for some unknown purpose.

But around my house the preference is for Dr Pepper or Wal-Mart's Dr Thunder.

Being a diabetic, I have to limit myself to diet drinks.  I tried Diet Cherry Coke for the first time last week.  It wasn't bad. For me to say that is something, because I can't stand Diet Coke and was never much of a Cherry Coke drinker either.  Haven't tried the Diet Vanilla stuff.  Sounds, well. . . there's a new smiley that turns my stomach which I choose not to use here.  Diet Dr. Pepper's good, but I can't drink it without thinking (as I have posted at some point in the distant past, I believe) "Diet Dr. Pepper tastes more like regular Dr. Pepper than what?  Diet Coke?  Lemonade?  Battery acid?

???  :uhh:  :bowling: Mostly I stick to Diet Pepsi and bottled water.

I know people who make special trips to get teh "real" DP.

I pesonally enjoy Pepsi Blue. Reminds me of windshield fluid. Since I can't drink that I drink Pepsi Blue. For a time a drank one each day.

:amen: Pepsi Blue taste like a cheap cotton candy coke with a  :puking: aftertaste! Do not waste your money!

Yesterday I went out on a limb and purchased a "Pepsi Blue."  I am normally a Dr. Pepper man  :readytoeat:   but being the daring type I got the Blue.  I must say that stuff is nasty  :puking:   I could not even finish the can.

Anyone else out there tried that stuff.  You have my sympathy.

I agree.... Pepsi Blue is NASTY! :puking:

Now Mountain Dew Code Red... not too bad.  Anyone tried the Dr. Pepper Fusion???  It's like drinking a strawberry Twizzler!

Bobby, you're cracking me up! ? I kinda like Pepsi Blue myself but have only had it from either 2-liter or 20-oz. bottles, never from a can. Not that it's my fave, understand, but I can drink it.

I like Vanilla Coke too, but just from 20 oz. bottles.

Dr. Pepper I like ... bottles, cans, any size ...
(or Dr. Thunder ... hi, Ark -- sorry 'bout your no-AC/cess pool pool/overflowing-garbage/doggie-pooed-sidewalk misadventure!!) ...

Our weekly soft drinks come from whatever's the sale of the week, sometimes store brands. At one local chain, there's usually some deal going on each week with either Pepsi or Coca-Cola products.

My absolute all-time favorite drink is classic Coke in the 6 oz. glass bottles (or whatever size those little bottles are; not sure they're same size they used to be). Of course those are expensive (like $100 for a six-pack, isn't it? :)), so I rarely have them -- and get near about giddily drunk when I do drink one!

Then there's this drink that I've had only maybe 3 times, I found it at this natural/health food store .. ?Dr. Whatever (not me not remembering the name, that is the name) .. quite tasty IMO!

Barb1957

Learn somethin' every doggone day, doncha!?
Bobby, I'd never heard of this "real Dr. Pepper" either!
But look what I found  ... I love the Internet!
(Love it more if I wasn't broke, but ... )

Dublin Dr. Pepper

winky, thanks! For broadening my horizons. LOL

Surely there are more important things for us to be talking about than Pepsi Blue.

Like Pepsi Clear.  Man was that stuff bad.  I can't believe they tested that stuff and still marketed it.  For me it's caffeinne free Coke or Pepsi, Sprite, Sierra Mist and occasionally Root Beer (my wife is the Root Beer fan).

a chemistry teacher i had in high school said the aspertane in diet drinks is toxic.
may not be any points in weight watchers, but he told us that everytime you drink a can of a diet soda it takes 17 seconds off your life expectancy. :uhh:
i'll stick with iced tea, thanks; janine pass me a glass!...

Never had 'em in a Dr. Pepper but I do sometimes indulge myself in the pleasures of salted peanuts in a bottle of Classic Coke.  :inlove: it!  :yummy:

Has anyone tried Upside-Down 7-Up yet?

It has quickly become my favorite...  :bowling:

Thanks for the healthy living tips.  That is good to know.  Does this mean that we should prosecute parents who give their children diet sodas as child abusers?

Kevin

It is pretty awful.

Still better than the couple of exotic international flavors I've tried over the years. :goingtopuke:

janine

Blue, Fusion, Code Red, I think I've tried all 3.  It's water and iced tea for me, anyway, when I'm home.

I will stick to Diet Dr. Pepper when I'm out.  Not because it is as good as Dr. Pepper (my favorite), and not because it even tastes much like it; but, just 'cause, when I want a diet soda, it's the only one that has a decent taste at all.

I do remember Tab fondly - but it was a very long, hot summer... Undoubtedly the Blue, the Red and the Fusion would have done as well that year.

The only Dr. Pepper I have ever had is what I can get in the store or gas station.  I did not know there was a "real" Dr. Pepper.  Think they have any in Wisconsin????????

Marc, I hate diet drinks too, but I can tolerate diet Dr Pepper, the fountain version for some reason is better than the bottled.

When I get on a "healthy kick" I sometimes go to Subway and when I fix my drink I make it 75% diet Dr Pepper and 25% regular, though that's probably not much of a help for you.

boringoldguy

How many Dr. Pepper connosieurs (sp?) prefer their Dr. Pepper with some salted peanuts poured into the bottle?   That's the North Cental Texas definition of health food.

:goingtopuke:     EW!!!!!!     :puking:

What do you want to ruin a perfectly good drink for??

???

Actually, my cousin works for the Pepsi bottling plant in Tulsa.  He told me they were sending all of the formula/syrup/whatever for that Pepsi Blue stuff back.  It was a big flop - sort of like New Coke.

Kevin

Arkstfan

I've tried it once, but I wasn't sure if I hated it because I was in Council Bluff, IA and tired and mad as heck at the time.

Terrible experience, booked a hotel through expedia, got there and the air conditioner didn't work, the pool was a brownish nasty stagnant cess pool, and the garbage dumpsters were overflowing and there was a huge pile of dog doo on the sidewalk. Loaded the truck and kept driving and didn't find a hotel until we got to Mitchell, SD. Bought the Pepsi Blue at a convience store across the street from the hideous hotel on the way out.

nerdneh

Pepsi Blue reminds me of TidyBowl, so I stay away from it; I have tried Diet Cherry Coke recently, and I liked it quite a bit. Anyone else??

winky

I made the switch to diet soft drinks last summer after starting to count "points" (ala Weight Watchers) and discovering that a regular soft drink would cost me 3 points, while a diet would be point-free. I'd rather eat those three points for dinner (or dessert!), thank you very much. So, my favorites are now Diet Dr. Pepper and Diet Vanilla Coke.

Bob, my mom is a huge fan of Diet Cherry Coke. Back when it came out the first time, I think she was seriously addicted to it. I haven't tried it since the re-release, so I'll have to check that out.

Any of you drink the "real" Dr. Peppers? The ones with sugarcane? Around here they can be gotten from the Dr. Pepper plant in Dublin (Don't get excited, Booty, wherever you are; it's Dublin, TX, not Ireland) but I think there's other locations that provide them as well. Does anyone remember the cherry coke commercials from a few years ago?  Everything in the commercial was B&W except for the cherry coke.

And there was something strange about the commercials they had for a clear Pepsi product (Pepsi clear??) I don't know what subliminal stuff they put in those ads, but they made me want to drink one and I  :alert: DETEST :alert:  all cola products of any brand.  It really made me wonder at the time.

janine

Yeech.  Y'all could at least step up to a more fun nut.  Black Walnut, maybe, or Smoked Almond.

When I was a sweet young thing, I went to "Free Enterprise Camp".  Stayed on campus at the college, and used computer programs to market an imaginary soft drink nation-wide as my project.

That's all I recall from the whole week, pitting my teams's judgements about what people want in a soda against the others, and the featured speaker at our banquet - La. Gov. Edwin Edwards.  He was still quite the Silver Fox then.

Variables we could manipulate on a scale of one to five (in the soda sales competition, not re: the Governor :D) were carbonation, acid content, sugar content, flavor strength.  We chose from cola and lemon-lime, maybe a couple more.

My group didn't win in the end but we sure kicked butt for a while.

Bon Voyage

I usually drink regular Coke.  If its good enough to take rust of nails, its good enough for me.

perhaps you were simply a Van Halen fan?

btw, I am the only person on the planet who actually liked Pepsi Clear.

"Cheap cotton candy coke" that is a great discription     of that nasty stuff.   I have repented of my ways and returned to good old Dr. Pepper.  I may be traveling to Dublin, Texas before long however to get some of the "real" stuff  :readytoeat:

I don't really think Pepsi is all that tasty anyway so I don't think I will try Pepsi Blue.  I have had a sip of Mountain Dew Code Red.  That tastes like carbonated Hawaiian Punch.

Well, I have to confess that I cannot personally tell a difference between the Dublin Dr. Pepper with Imperial Sugar Cane rather than the typcial corn syrup sweetened DPs. I think I'm just not a true Dr. Pepper enthusiast. As I said though, several people I know think there is just no comparison.

I had never heard of it either until I came out here to Abilene, so it may be a West Texas thing. Maybe Dublin is the only place to still get it. But you can order in online in that handy link Barb found!

Wendy

You probably aren't old enough to have ever heard of it.   Old men used to do it when I was I was a kid.  Try it some time - you'll need Dr. Pepper in a glass bottle.  Make sure you don't choke on a peanut.
