I don't think science itself ever makes outlandish claims, it's people throwing the name of science around to justify those actions that makes science appear loony.

Science invites skepticism and repeatability of experiments in order to validate theories or even things accepted as fact.  We are seeing those who are well educated in their fields who have different opinions shut down in the name of "misinformation."  That is not scientific.

That's why when I hear "experts" or "the science," my skepticism goes through the roof.
