Starting a foundation...

One of the first things I would do is contact board members at all the Christian colleges & get their ideas, ask for referrals to people they work with who crank up foundations.

I have a dream to start a foundation for students who have dealt with homelessness while they are growing up.  The goal of the foundation would be to provide college scholarship money for students who found themselves in that situation and persevered - graduating from high school.

They usually don't have the money needed for college.  I want to change that.

Here is my question.  Have any of you ever set up a not for profit foundation?  If so, what do I need to know before I do it?

Great idea.  Those kids need help to break the cycle.

We are currently developing plans to provide educational opportunities for street kids - off campus and in small blocks.  It will be an extension of our vocational education program.  If we can rescue just one of them it will be worthwhile.
