I listened to this video and another one posted as well.  While there is some good basic counsel on it, of course it does not cover every case.  Such as mine. 

Encouraging conversation between two parties affected by long-term PTSD does not really contribute to peace in the home.  There are too many triggers which make conversation beyond the simple basics of day-to-day necessities a threatening minefield to walk in without something exploding.  I have surrendered this into God's hands as a situation which I cannot remedy in this life.  I will support this spouse through to the end of their life, but I have ceased to expect to be able to share conversations about the things of God with them, or serious family matters, or shared activities. Of any kind.  "God hath called us to peace", and when all efforts have been expended, sometimes the only way to achieve that peace is by having conversation and interactions shut down.

Proverbs 22:24 tells us, "Make no friendship with an angry man, and with a furious man thou shalt not go."  If one is wedded to a partner such as this of either gender, obeying this command presents a double-edged problem.
