Some people called/texted to see how I was doing after Friday since I live in Atlanta.

I got some heavy rain through the night, but that was it. It wasn't even windy (I looked at my security cam footage). I got no flooding, and didn't get any kind of blink of a power outage. Even my drive to the gym Saturday morning showed no sign of a hurricane at all. Wow. I'm grateful for His mercy.  ::pray::

BUT! I'm very sad and praying for other victims.  ::pray::

I can somewhat empathize, although we had no loss of life. In 1986, a hurricane came up and stalled over us here in NE Oklahoma. The flooding was awful. We had no flood insurance and lost everything. If you've never experienced a flood, it's not just some rain and river water that comes into your home - no, it's septic tank contents, it's hazardous chemicals washing in, it's water around dead animals flooding in...
While I'm at it, if any of you want to make a donation to help with the efforts there, do not send it to the Red Cross. I stood in line at the Red Cross tent for hours and all I got was one cup of coffee, a bucket, mop, broom, and a small bottle of disinfectant. I could have bought all this at Walmart for less than $15. If you want to help, find a way to send money directly to a victim of the flood where they'll get 100% of what you sent. You can usually contact a church in a hard hit area and they can help direct you to someone who has been devastated by the flood.

The Hurricane came right over our little city and straight up to Asheville which is one hour away from us. Parts of Easley and most of Greenville is still without power. Biden landed in Greenville yesterday, but took a helicopter to view Asheville. All political motivated, since N.C. is critical for the Democrats in the up coming elections. Harris went to Augusta Ga. for the same reason as Biden did to N.C.   A bunch of BS.

Asheville is devastated, and will take a few years to put back where folks can travel~some of the main roads are destroyed.

Grenville and Easley will takes months to clean up and rebuild.

We were spare with very little damaged, and have power back~but my children in Greenville do not. I have my place back together since my son and his workers clean everything up.

The poor mountain people of N.C. is where all money should go to help them.  Many people are still missing. Some have been found in layers of mud with their arms lifted out of the mud, but they were dead. It is much worse than what the news is telling folks, and maybe even they do not know the full extent of the lost of lives.

Folks up there are walking looking for their loved ones, since no power of any kind is available...plus no cell phones are working in the western part of N.C.

Thanks for the update Red. Sounds like the mountain folks need a huge amount of help. Way more than the $750 per person Kamala has proposed.

Brother~ a lot more! Folks are unable to get out and helpers are unable to get in, being air lifted is the only way most will get get out. Many homes are completely destroyed, those who have been air lifted are telling us more news every day. The death toll will rise dramatically, but most of nation are kept in ignorance ~ maybe purposely.

I'm so thankful you were spared major damage, Red. Thanks for letting us know how things are going.
Cally, thank you for starting this thread. Glad you're ok!

Looks like Hurricane Milton will be hitting next.

I live in Asheville and have commented in another thread.  The closest I've heard of FEMA being around is when they showed up at our congregation trying to stop the installation of a starlink.  $750?  WE'RE SAVED!!!
