I'm an exciting middle-aged woman who does not think that the five steps are as bad as some make them out to be. I guess that's because I think of them as dance steps rather than stairs to heaven! Hear, believe ... cha! cha! cha! ... repent, confess ... cha! cha! cha! be baptised (dip and tango!)

How did you come to not see yourself as one of the elect? Your views from your background will bless the board.

The whole story would be both tedious and uncharitable, but here's the outline:

If you wonder whether you're one of the elect, you're probably not;

If you  believe the parts of the Bible where it says God wants everyone to come to salvation, you're probably not one of the elect;

If you  are appalled by the idea that God would create human beings who will never, under any circumstance, have a chance to be saved,  you're probably not one of the elect.


Three strikes and I was out.

I've been stopping by to view this site regularly for some time, but just now registered.   There's very little about me that would interest anyone, but I thought it would be courteous to introduce myself.

My name fits me well - I'm middle-aged, middle class, average intelligence (I hope) and all around non-descript.   I am a member of the Church of Christ, but was not raised one - I was rescued from a calvinist background, where I had come to understand I was not one of the elect.  I have seen some of you complain about the "five steps" of salvation, but it was good news to me.

Most of you would probably find me impossibly conservative, but I don't think I'll be posting much, and I'll try to behave when I do.

Compared to some I'm a flaming liberal!  I guess it all depends on who we stand back-to-back with, hmm?  Mostly, like Barb said, I'm just me!
