QuoteAm I dreaming or did Linert (sp?) tell the sideline reporter that USC was still a better team than Texas?  Didn't he just watch that game or was he watching ESPN reruns on how USC 2005 is the best team in the history of College football?
It's the same theory as President Bush didn't really win the election because we had a better candidate.  Now it's invading the sports world.

QuoteBeelzebush?

You got that right!

He's got that Texas Longhorn fever spread all over the country!

And you can bet there won't be any pandemic vaccine goin' on fer it neither. :)
USC threw the game.  They didn't want no part of Beelzebush's hurricane machine.  You heard that it rained on the Rose parade for the first time in 50 years?  That was a warning shot.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day!

That's not saying much.

Between your comment and Linert's, I was imagining the coach calling a team meeting and having them look at the rain and then begging them, for the love of LA, lose the game.

QuoteI wonder how many people are second-guessing that Heisman vote?
Vince Young made a lot of sports writers look really foolish in the Rose Bowl, no question he was the best player in college football this year.

my humble 2 cents

Of course, winning the Heisman hasn't been much of a predictor of performance in the pros.

There's now some talk the Texans may pick Vince Young instead of Reggie Bush.   I think they'd do well to keep the backfield they have (which is really pretty good) and trade that #1 pick for 4 or 5 lower round picks.    Neither Young nor Bush will be a bit of use to them.   They need an offensive line.

All indicators that I have seen have the Texans taking Reggie Bush with the 1st pick, but I agree with BOG, Davis and Wells is actually a pretty decent backfield. Moving down and picking up extra picks to help the O-Line would actually be a better move.

All the talk about staying in college, Vince jumped to the NFL.  Get in the game while the gettings good!

marc

Of course, now that Marcus Vick has entered the draft, all talk about who the first pick will be has become moot.  How can anyone possibly pass up the greatest football player in the history of the game?  :p

Note:  the above is sarcasm.  If I had any respect for Marcus V, it was lost when he took a cheap shot at a WVU assistant coach on the sidelines earlier this year.

Did he pull a gun on Him?!?!?!?

Vick was arrested yesterday for waving a weapon at 3 youths in a fast food joint, he was kicked out of VA Tech a couple of days earlier.

And of course he was suspended in 2004 for drugs and alcohol related issues

At one time many scouts thought he could be better than his older brother Micheal Vick and was certainly a lock to be taken in the 1st round of the NFL draft. He seemed to have more pocket presence and accuracy than older brother Michael.

Now it is hard to imagine any team taking him before round 4 of the NFL draft. This guy has Maurice Clarett written all over him, however I can see a team like Miami gambling on Vick in rounds 4 or 5 of the draft.

He is an extreme roll of the dice pick...

Vick is a thug, maybe not on the order of that guy who played for Nebraska a few years ago, but a thug nonetheless.  Any GM who takes a chance on the guy has to factor that in to the equation.  I don't know, maybe he'd fit in with the Ravens...
