OldDad

OK, this is the thread for your Top Five favorite old TV shows, or newer ones no longer in production...

My clear #1, and IMHO the best televison show ever produced...

The Andy Griffith show

The rest, in no particular order:

Everybody Loves Raymond
Seinfeld
Hill Street Blues
Mystery Science Theater 3000

OD

Jimbob

No order:

Seinfeld
All in the Family
Mr. Bean
Fawlty Towers
Andy Griffith

Bon Voyage

Star Trek.  Its. just a great. show.

Mere Nick

Yep.  The Andy Griffith show is the best program ever made, bar none.

The other good 'uns

Hill Street Blues
All in the Family
Bonanza
Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling
Star Trek
The Twilight Zone
Gunsmoke
Addams Family

Weeble

What about MASH, how could you forget about MASH?

Then The Muppet Show
All In The Family
X-Man Cartoons
Amazing Spider-man Cartoons
The Tick Cartoons (Boy it's great to have two little boys to watch this with again.   )

OldDad

Used to love M*A*S*H when I was in college, but the liberal political views wore on me over time.  It was very funny, but I don't think it has aged well.

OD

Mere Nick

That's the same reason I didn't add it, OldDad.  One starts to add it and remembers Alda and Ferrell.

kalen

Seinfeld, all the way.

Another show I remember and really enjoyed was Spielburg's "Amazing Stories" -- anyone remember that one?  You can find it now on VHS, but there was apparently only one season of it.  That was a great show!

And the Smurfs -- ah, I miss those little blue guys...

spurly

Andy Griffith
Petticoat Junction
Green Acres
Beverly Hillbillies
Munsters

Mere Nick

Spurly's mention of the Munsters reminds me of the Addams Family.

Jimbob

Carol Burnett and the Honeymooners!  Good ones!  Another couple of favs of mine are Burns & Allen (reminds me of my grandparents in a way) and the Jeffersons.

Weeble

If you are looking that far back when I was little I would sit with my dad and watch re-runs of
Father Knows Best
I Married Joan
Dobie Gillis
The Jack Benny Show
Dick Van Dike Show

It was funny to hear him laugh.

I may be a good thing that I do not get some of the nostalgia cable channels;  I find that my faves of long ago seem so lame when I see them today on DVD.  I guess that goes with growing up, or becoming more conservative...(sorry, I guess I was a little redundant there...]  In any case, I have been disappointed by viewing several of my best remembered on DVD, including "Rocky&Bullwinkle," "Laugh-In," "I Spy", & "ALF".

So will list five more which are still amongst my favorites, probably because I haven't seen them in many years:

The TICK! (animated only, of course!)
Dick Van Dyke
Dobie Gillis
"Melmac Memories" (the animated ALF series)
Burns & Allen

marc

Beverly Hillbillies (the first reality show)
Twilight Zone
Green Acres
St. Elsewhere (hard to find these days)
The Bob Newhart Show

ConnieLard

The ones I liked that haven't been mentioned yet (or if they have, I missed it):

"Frasier"
"Northern Exposure"
"The Dean Martin Show"
"Bonanza"

rick6886

Well I was born in 68, so my "classics" might be a little newer:

Family Ties
A Team
Star Trek : TNG
This Week In Baseball (the ones with Mel Allen)
Monday Night Football (Cosell, Meredith and Gifford)

my humble 2 cents

Rick

rick6886

QuoteMid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling
Have you ever seen the old wrestling clips with Andy Kaufman and Jerry "The King" Lawlor? Lets be clear I think pro wrestling is phony baloney but when Kaufman got involved I was in stitches I was laughing so hard...

my humble 2 cents

Rick

WKRP

Early Edition

St. Elsewhere

Chicago Hope

Due South

Trinity

Oh boy!   ::clappingoverhead::

There are so many, but I may be able to narrow it down to these 5.  In this order:

1.  I Love Lucy (with Dezi) & The Lucy Show (without Dezi)

2.  Who's the Boss?  (I love that show!!!  I wish they would show re-runs at least!)

3.  Little House on the Prairie (I can catch a re-run from time to time)

4.  The Andy Griffith Show (I just love Barney!  What a nut!)

5.  The Carol Burnett Show (It's a shame that there are no re-runs!)

There are so many more that I miss, but there are my five.

::whistle::

slu-magoo

Some of my favorites:

Seinfeld
Andy Griffith
Carol Burnett
Alice
That's My Mama
Taxi
Three's Company
Sanford and Son

I still catch reruns of most of these -- but I haven't seen Alice, Carol Burnett, or That's My Mama in a good long while.

Regards.

My Mike has recently taken to watching the Addams Family movie.  Like, several times.

He gets all misty-eyed over the in-love-with-wild-abandon relationship of Gomez (Raul Julila) and Morticia (Anjelica Huston).

And you know, he's right.  The movie took what was dealt with just a little more lightly in the TV series, and made it alive.

Which is funny, considering the family in the story...

Does Three's Company count?! XD

Mah, the good old days. All in the Family and Monty Python are fun shows, too.

Big Mike Lewis

These are the ones I remember watching all the time:

Alf
MacGyver
Fawlty Towers
Dukes of Hazzard
Seinfeld (why is this considered classic...am I feeling old?)
Star Trek: TNG

Nonsense.

Don't forget boring, petty and selfish.

Cross-titled
