DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Several of our states do it, although Queensland, being subtropical and tropical doesn't.  It's an argument that rears its ugly head every few years.

We fing it causes the curtains to fade more.

Any global increase in temperature is, of course, not the result of greenhouse effect, but rather the result of saving daylight.  More daylight saved means increased temperatures.

The farmers don't like it because it upsets the cows.  They can't work out when it's milking time.

My Mum tells me that during the war, they had 2 hours of daylight saving time.  Presumably it gave the fighters a better chance because they were in daylight but the German bombers were in night time.

I believe it was Daniel or Ezekiel who said that in the last days they would seek to change the times and the seasons - obviously DST.

Hee.  Easier to change the very passage of eternal time than to get people/businesses to open/meet at a different time. :D

One congregation near here has summer & winter meeting hours... People do adapt.

I guess most hourly night workers get an extra hour's pay in their envelopes but go home an hour early.  Not bad.

Most of Arizona ignores DST, although the Navajo Reservation does it (I don't think the Hopi reservation or the others do).  It's too hot in southern Arizona to add another hour of daylight at the end of the day. Same for Hawaii, which doesn't adjust.  Most of Indiana also ignores DST, but for no particular reason other than contrariness.  The confusion there is enhanced by the time zone running through the middle of the state.  A couple of summers ago when I was driving from Louisville to visit my father who taught at ISU in Terre Haute but lived in Illinois, I shifted through so many time zones I think I actually travelled back in time and saw George Rogers Clark and his militia pass by my car on their way to attack the British at Vincennes. :alien:

Is it just me?

I'm thinking one of the last bastions of prejudice to be addressed and challenged is the way our entire society is designed to the benefit of those who are sparrows... morning people.

What about us poor little, oppressed owls?  We are forced to work at the same times as these sparrows when biologically our brains are not yet functioning.  This means sparrows get to advance while we're still being chewed out for being thirty-one seconds late.   Our schools are slanted in such a way that our little sparrow children will succeed, excell and be rewarded,  but our owl children will always be behind the rest, will make bad grades in the early morning classes, and get punished because they must have ADD if they aren't alert and wide awake by 7:30 AM for their classes.

Isn't it time we owls picked up the signs and protested this unfair design?

I think we need to stop springing forward!  But, we should always fall back!  That way, it will level the playing field for the owls because some years they will be able to live and work and go to school at a time befitting their mental chemistry.

maybe I'm serious, maybe I'm not,

I heard via email, on the radio, and via mother-in-law, that it's time to "spring forward" tonight!

So... it's 12:15 a.m. Sunday as I post this.  I'll run the alarm clock ahead an hour & hit the bed now.

If I'm wrong, & it's not this morning we do it... so I'll be an hour early for the assembly!  Oughta be early anyway.  More time for fellowship.

I think other places do DST, too.  Do y'all, Booty?  Crocless?

Thank the Lord God Almighty that is one bit of foolishness we have not copied.

We are Atlantic Standard Time, we were Atlantic Standard Time, we will be Atlantic Standard Time.

Janine doesn't your Arizona state also ignore it? Somewhere I had that impression.

The whole theory though has always made as much sense to me as your electoral college. Allan I thought DST was to keep the farmers from fading, that?

Janine how do you handle your hour lads working through the night?

Why change the clocks? Why not just wake up earlier or later as the case may be?

Vnezuela at 9° north has virtually no difference year round, so none of this makes sense to us. Sandi though grins when I try to explain it!!

To do that would involve individuals taking responsibility - surely something as rare as hen's teeth.  One of the characteristics of the times is forresponsibility to be passed to others - here it is the Aorta syndrome.

"Aorta do something about ..."

Bon Voyage

It can make sense when you live closer to the north pole.

After prayerful thought and fasting...

(well, maybe not fasting)

(And maybe not much thought, either)

I have decided that daylight savings time is of Devil.  It's EVIL.  "It's like the fruits of the Devil."  EVIL.
