Aren't you in the furniture business Peck?  My wife and I  have been shopping for bedroom furniture.  What's with all the furniture made in China these days?  A salesman was really pushing a bedroom suite yesterday:  Beautiful oak, solid wood, no metal or plastic slides,  dovetailed drawers, and "Made in China".  The salesman said the trees are cut here, processed on board a ship en route to China, where the furniture is built and shipped back.

Do you know anything about this?  How's the quality? Is it durable for a family with "active" children? This suite cost about a grand less than the stuff we were looking at that came out of North Carolina and Indiana.

I should mention there are things I prefer to do over shopping for furniture...like sticking freshly sharpened pencils into my ears!

I deal quite often with the Chinese.Most of them are americans and use americans to assemble their goods they receive from China.They are exceptionally friendly and honest.

About quality,wow..it can't be beat.In my opinion,it's the best.They used to buy lumber from a little town about 20 miles from me and ship it oversees.Not only is the construction excellent but the finish cannot be any better.

Hey,watch out for those furniture guys,check competition.The profit margin from one store to another can vary a lot.Delivery also needs to be taken into consideration.

There is an elder of the church who lives in Statesville, NC (about 30 minutes from me) who owns a furniture distribution warehouse.  He can get furniture from most of the major manufactures at a pretty good discount.  If you've ever been to one of the major furniture showrooms, his prices are usually from 17 to 25% less than what you find there.

We've furnished several rooms of our house using him, and have saved a great deal of money in the process.

I don't know how it will compare to the Chinese furniture you are looking at, but if you have an interest shoot me an email and I'll let you know how to get in touch with him.

By the way, they ship anywhere in the country, at reasonable shipping prices.
