confused and lost

I have not read the article, but as i have just returned from prague and krakow on a historical trip with my school about the nazis i felt i might aswell post what i had learnt

The Cgristian faith suffered under Hitler the Catholic church was left alone as long as they did not interefere with Hitlers plans i.e. the final solution of the jewish problem. but the entire prostistant church was disbanded and replaced with the pagan german faith movement...

i know it isnt much but we wernt focusing on christianity we where learning about the Jews that were murdered

Some Protestants, like Martin Niemoller and Dietrich Boenhoffer (Lutheran pastor of the Confessing Church) resisted. Boenhoffer was originally a pacifist, but eventually became convinced that Hitler was so evil that he had to be kiiled, so he was in on the assassination plot, arrested, and finally executed. His Letters from Prison are very interesting.

I am doing a paper on Dietrich Bonhoeffer and I believe this acticle will have some insight about the German Church and the German Army.

trifecta

Lee,

I had no idea Bonhoeffer was in on the Hitler assassination attempt.  Do you know how exactly he helped?

A pacifist, Bonhoeffer for a long time refused to espouse violence but finally became convinced that Hitler was so evil that violence was justified in this case. Bonhoeffer left the Lutheran Church and joined the underground Confessing Church (founded in 1933), which stood in opposition to the German Lutheran Church, which had caved in and sold out to the Nazis. In 1940 he began to act as an agent for Military Intelligence, secretly making contacts and carrying intelligence for the German resistance. His brother-in-law Hans Dohnanyi was a member of the German Military Intelligence Office and secretly a member of the resistance who was vehemently opposed to Hitler, and persuaded Bonhoeffer to work for them. That's how Bonhoeffer became involved in the Abwehr (German Military Intelligence Office) plot to assassinate Hitler, joining in 1939, and was imprisoned in March of 1943, and after being shunted to several different prison camps, ending at Flossenburg, was eventually hanged on April 9, 1945, a mere weeks before the German surrender.

Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer Was planing the Murder of Adolf Hitler.
A good source to go to would be the holy Bible and look up The ten commandments on what God says about Murder . Also look up evil King Saul
who was just as guilty of doing awful dreadful things .
and see if David was ever planing to murder him.

If we think Lutheran pastor Bonhoeffer Was right in planing the murder of Hitler.
Then would we also very wrongly  think its Ok FOR A christian  PASTOR TO  plan the Murder of President Obama because he introduces laws in favor of abortion?
Do we think presbyterian Pastor Peter Hill was right in murdering the abortion doctor in flordia ?

Christians are to try to change the hearts of people through Gods condeming  law's and the  Gospel of Jesus Forgivness won for all.

They are not to take the law into their own hands .

A Lutheran minister who tried to stop Hitler, vice the Catholic priests who aided him in exterminated millions of Jews...

The Bonhoeffer situation is one I can't easily sort out. If he was wrong trying to kill Hitler then what of the millions who volunteered or were conscripted trying to do the same thing by killing those who stood between them and their final target?

It would be good if there was some way to detect a "crazed lunatic" gene in such folks as Hitler, Muhammed, Stalin, etc. so that the men in white jackets could take charge of them early on and bring them to the nervous hospital.

King Saul was as evil as Hitler and we didn't see David trying to murder him did we No he could have easily but he respected who God had placed over him because God did it .

do we need to go through what Romans says about there is no governing authority that has not been set up by God.

IF you need to blame some one for Hitler being in power blame God/

his permissive will is still his will.

The Catholic church turned there back on mankind during WWII and collaborated with the Nazis.
