Stop looking.

That doesn't work. If you are unemployed and need a job, you have to send out resumes and go on interviews. If you are unemployed, you need to go out and look for a job, otherwise you will stay unemployed. Same with finding a mate. If you want a mate, you have to go out and find one, otherwise you will remain single.

The book of Proverbs has much to say on those who desire things but don't put in the work required to get those things. People want things, eg, a godly mate, a great job, , health, etc. but all these things will not come to those who refuse to do the work necessary to acquire such things.

Eg, a healthy walk with Christ is not something that just happens, it requires that we abide in him, and seek him. It entails effort and work on our part. This is true of all things, including our love life and relations with the opposite sex.

"Stop looking" is bad advice. it is like telling someone who wants to get in shape to stop exercising. There is a thing called perseverence. People should not give up, they should persevere!! Quitters and people who give up should not expect to gain the things they want.

"The soul of the sluggard desireth and hath nothing, but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat." Prov. 13:4

I think it is realllly really hard to stop looking.  Or rather, to stop desiring to find a mate.  But it is hard if you are somewhat shy, like myself, to go out and find one.  How do you go out and find one when there are so few people who want to wait to have sex until marriage?  It think that is one of the biggest challenges to finding a mate in today's modern world.  I should probably shop around local churches, huh.  (Shop around sounds so bad!) My own church is rather small.  Wish me luck.  I also like the quote that says we shouldn't worry about anything because worrying does no good...cannot add a hair to your head by worrying.  God provides for the birds of the air;  as a father cares and provides for his children, how much more will God provide for you; etc.  Very good advice for single folks.  In the meantime, I find it very very hard to be single.
