How many watch Bill O'Reilly?

My email was read on Friday (2-2-07) on the show in the Whoopi Goldberg response letters.  I recorded it.  I was happy.

Jimbob

Cool, what'd you say?  (I watch from time to time, but not faithfully.)

Big Mike Lewis

This is what I wrote in my email:

"Whoopi was great!  Intelligent and articulate.  Even though you two disagreed, it was a civil and interesting debate.  The S-P's in Hollywood need to follow her example.  I can't wait to see her on the Factor again. "

This is what he read:

BIG Mike Lewis; Beaverton, Oregon. "Whoopi was great!  Intelligent and articulate.  The S-P's in Hollywood need to follow her example."

Yeah, he said Big.

I think O' Reilly is the pulse of the uninformed American.

Why do you say that?

Bon Voyage

I don't watch any news networks, or even the nightly news.  I don't get the cable news channels, and I can't trust the news networks that I do get.

So I read on the internet a bit.

Why do you say that?

Because s1n is uninformed.  He probably heard it on a left-wing talk show.

I don't like the guy. He is really an obnoxious know it all and I tend to throw things at the TV when he is on. I wouldn't want to be told to shut up on his program, would you?

Balou, I like him for the same reasons you dislike him. He is obnoxious, but I like that when he is talking to idiots I disagree with.  ::smile::

It would be cool to be on one of those shows with that Kennedy dude who rambles on about global warming and all that so that I could stiffen my thumb and jab him in the goozle with it.

What's an S-P?  Salt & Pepa?  I thought they broke up.

Bon Voyage

Sorry.  I don't watch FoxNews commentaries, so I don't know the language.

I did see Bill O'Reilly a couple of weeks ago, but you can probably guess what show I saw him on.

Why do you say that?

Because he's clearly doesn't know what he is talking about on religious and economic issues and in many cases foreign policy.

You couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, I listen to O'Reilly many times during the lunch drive time and used to watch his show quite regularly.

I'll give him credit for being a pit bull on wacko liberals and on lax border security but that's about all.

That's enough for me. What other useful function could there be?

OldDad

O'Reilly's show is entertainment, not hard news.  I see him as a slightly tamer "Morton Downey, Jr." for the 21st century.

I do like the way he takes on celebrities for their inane comments.

I prefer watching Glenn Beck over on CNN at 7...

marc

Glenn Beck is consciously entertaining.  O'Reilly takes himself too seriously.  He is Papa Bear.

(have to give him credit for making the effort with the Colbert appearance, though.)

Jaime

I thought he was reasonably cordial to Whoopi Goldberg also. If he can treat her reasonably, he is not all that outrageous. Maybe Rosie Odonnell would be the ultimate test.

::smile::

Jimbob

I miss Glenn Beck being on the radio here.  I loved Moron Trivia.

Big Mike Lewis

I'll give you the religion thing...he doesn't know what he's talking about.

He's pretty smart though and knows what people are going to say before they say it.  He's opinionated, but he knows what he's talking about 70% of the time...which is better than many TV news shows.

O'Reilly is always cordial to his guest until they start with the Kool-Aid.

He was fine with Michael Moore until the idiocy began...then he let Moore have it.  Rosie would never show up on the Factor because he'll ask her hard questions and she won't answer them well and she'll look bad.  She doesn't want that.

I don't get it.  Why would he stop being cordial with them when they start drinking his kool-aid? ???

His useful function sort of gets cancelled out by his unuseful function (such as his inane blathering on religious and economic issues).

s1n4m1n

He's good against the "knee jerk liberals" (the wacko liberals I mentioned), but he often stumbles when he has a discussion with someone who has a better thought out position.

Jaime

I can filter the unuseful stuff. His "go for the throat" tactics towards goof ball judges, especially ones that give light sentences for child molesters, and predators, etc. is worth every penny Fox pays him and every Nielson rating point he earns.

No one ever accused O'Reilly of being a newsman, but he does cause people to think. That's a good thing most of the time.

Lee Freeman

Whether you agree with everything he says or not, IMHO The O'Reilly Factor is one of the best hours on prime-time TV.

I've e-mailed him two or three times but I must not be "pithy" enough.

Pax.

Well, that explains why he doesn't have that monkey sidekick anymore.

Sorry.  I haven't had any use for him since he, during the DC sniper shootings, called parents in that area who didn't want to send their kids to school unpatriotic wimps.

I can see how that would taint your view.

Because, grabbing someone else's Kool-Aid and drinking in it, leaving all that color-dyed backwash is just rude, of course.

marc

When I lived in Australia, the closest thing we had to Kool-aid was called cordial, coincidentally.

Jimbob

In Russia it was Yupi.  When I asked a friend from the church if it was any good he said through a contorted  face, "Yupi?  Foo, yupi.  Oy, foo."  Foo, when translated, is ::puking::.
