I have been told that I'm a very pretty girl, (almost exclusively by other females), but decent guys, especially my age never seem to even look my way. I am half hispanic and half white, and I guess I look more hispanic, because every single black or hispanic guy over the age of thirty either stares creepily at me, yells things at me or makes it known that they are "checking me out." I get younger black or hispanic guys to do the same sometimes, but not as often as the older creeps, and they're also the type to be all "ghetto" and whatnot. Not a problem, except it's not at all what I'm attracted to.
For Easter this year, I was walking in front of the church by myself, although there were tons of people around. And this guy (homeless/crack addict?) was looking around asking people for a dollar, and he asked me and I said no sorry, but then he goes "what's your name can I be your boyfriend?"  he was at least forty! IS HE SERIOUS?! It was absolutely disgusting, and I don't know if these people think I'm their level or what. It makes my self esteem go down about 1000 points.
Why does it happen? Grrrr!

Yup.
Some creeps are attracted to you because you are a pretty young girl.

Some creeps are attracted to you because you are pretty. They could care less if your heart or mind or soul is lovely, all they want to possess use abuse destroy is your beauty.

Some creeps are attracted to you because you are young.  Even if a girl is not especially pretty, even if she is too thin or too fat to be conventionally pretty, even if she is dark when blondes are popular or blonde when dark is preferred, as long as she is reasonably healthy and still young, she is attractive to most men.  There is a drive in us humans to breed, you know.  Youthful, nubile, fecund-looking young ladies always gather attention.  Especially in today's revealing clothing.

Some creeps are attracted to you because you are female.  Period.  They may figure the shotgun approach of hitting on everything with a vagina will eventually get them somewhere.

I wouldn't care much about the scraggly guy panhandling in front of the church at Easter.  I would wonder a lot harder about a church that was milling around out front in their Easter best, a whole bunch of them, but two or three men couldn't take the bum in hand  and go feed him or something?  It would have fed the guy, it would have given the men a chance to check him out to see if the church could help him, and it would have kept him from accosting young ladies.

When that happens, yell "gross" really loud and run away.

Like they said, it's because you are 18 or female or pretty or all of them together.  Guys have one track minds...I am a guy I should know.

I wouldn't take it personally.  Most guys don't know they are out of your league.  We guys all have delusions that we're good looking and that all women should be attracted to us.

janine

It ain't a delusion if it's true, eh, Mike *nudge nudge wink wink*?

"Dontcha wish your boyfriend was hot like me?"

it isn't that you are attracting the wrong people, you are just noticing the reaction to your beauty from those you do not wish to be with more.  such people are more overt about their lustfulness and overshadow those boys or men who are not secure enough to approach you.

you need to remember one thing, men (and women) are rules by their desires, unles they have conquered them with the help Of Jesus, lust for a woman is one of those desires which dictate how people will respond to other.  you can't live in a fairy tale world where woman are only approached respectfully, this is the real world and evil abounds.

i am reminded of the christina a. video where she and a friend are parading around in lingerie and expect men to keep their hands off.  how unrealistic and naive.  the Bible taks about dressing modestly and there are reasons for that direction.  one is visibly demonstrated by that video.

if you want to be respected then you need to look at your own behavior and dress as well, then ask yourself, 'am i feedng those desires with how i dress or act?'  not everything is a one way street.

oh and i would suggest not calling those people 'creeps', as that is just showing ignorance and a lack of christian love for those people.  they need to hear about Christ and they won't listen once a christian has so labeled them.  such labeling is also judging so i would treat them how you would want to be treated in the name of Christ.

janine

Yeah, imagine if we all had to wear our labels on a sandwich board.

blessed with him

That will happen your whole life, you have to ignore it.  What is important is who you respond to.   ::shrug::

God Bless

Why would you think anyone is better then you?
Why would your self esteem go down if someone asks you out?
Why do people refer to others as disgusting?

Maybe it is somewhat of a curse to have sarahitis or rebeccaitis!
