It don't say how many Magi in Matt.  unless I missed something. and Luke records a few shepherds. ?

Ewigkeit

You answered correctly, since there is no valid record of the number of magi...only of the nuber of gifts given.  Now, when did the wise men arrive, and did they meet up with the shepherds?

jessbuds

When Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus was already in the house.
They did not meet any shepherd.

It was the guy who killed the king i forgot his name. The story was; this guy came to the king and trick him and then entered his room saying that he had a very important message but instead killed him.

It was the barber and yes a Philistine.

What is the shortest chapter in the entire Bible?

BornToReign

Ewigkeit

2 John is indeed one of the shortest books in the Bible, but it's NOT the shortest chapter...Try again.

Psalm 117

I cheated.... ::eatinganarrow::

Ewigkeit

That's okay, since you had to search the scriptures to find it.  Searching God's Word is always an excellent plan.

In the Old Testament one book has a number of letters in its title equal to its position in the Testament.  In the New Testament two books have numbers of letters in their titles equal to their positions in the Testament.  Can you name the correct books?

scrappinmom19

Old Testament ~ Joshua   6th book, 6 letters

New Testament  ~ John 4th book, 4 letters
Romans 6th book, 6 letters

How can it be true, and it is, that the oldest person in the bible died BEFORE his earthly father?

Methuselah's father was Enoch, who was taken up into heaven and never actually died.

Ewigkeit

Hey, guys, how about those walking tongues?  They are in the Bible!

Ewigkeit

Although "Calvary" is a very common term in hymns and religious poetry, the word appears only once in the New Testament (in the Gospel of Luke), and that only in the King James Version.

I had to go digging for it... strange reference, but I believe you're referring to Psalm 73:9.

Ewigkeit

...and you believe correctly!

JohnDB

Where did the wise men go when looking for Jesus (of course they went to see Herod the Great we all know that)

But did they go to the Herodium or to Jerusalem?

**hint**
from either location you can see Bethlehem below.

Ewigkeit

The answer here is very clear from Matthew 2.  "...behold there came wise men from the east unto Jerusalem..."  "...when Herod the king heard it, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him..."

CocoValet

I'm not sure if this trivia question was asked on this thread but I'll take a chance that it wasn't...

who was called  baldy ?

and what did the talking donkey say ?

daq

Quotewho was called  baldy ?

It was Elisha ~ (2 Kings 2:23-24) "Go up thou bald head! Go up thou bald head!" And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of YHWH: and there came forth two she-bears out of the woods and tare forty and two children of them.

The children were poking fun at Elisha because his master Elijah was taken from off his head[covering] and he therefore SHAVED. So the next question should be:

What does hair represent in the Scripture and how therefore did Elisha know for certain that the prophets who went to look for Elijah (the very hairy man) would not find him?  ::crackup::

This doesn't sound like the answer you're looking for but...

To the best of my knowlege, hair was an outward symbol of a vow, as the hair was usually shaved at the taking of the vow, and at the ending of the vow.  Afterwards, the hair was burned as an offering, as a sort of symbol of the time spent in the vow.

As for them not finding Elijah, I reckon that since He saw Elijah's translation to the heavenlies, he knew just where he was, and it wasn't on the mountain anymore.

Anyway, look forward to your answer, as this is one of those stories that has always been mysterious to me.

inthenow

In the beginning God was two persons or dietys, God and the Word,

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Jesus became the third person of the God head.

1Jn_5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Joh_1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

So where is the Holy Spirit in this?

He is not Jesus because He was before Jesus,

Psa_51:11  Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

He is not the Father, but comes from Him.

Joh_15:26  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

So that makes it obvious, what are the two verses that together show who the Holy Spirit is?

inthenow

Joh 1:3  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
